starting BJJ with no cardio

i just started bjj a few weeks ago. i used to be an athlete, played just about every sport but really stopped being active when i went to college. i still get gassed while rolling, but ive taught myself to relax and that has helped tremendously. i still sit out while rolling occasionally. sometimes to catch a breather, most times to watch others. like you, i am lost on passing guard and other basics, but just ask your partners to help you out and they will. i was intimidated when i started mostly because i thought i would just get my ass kicked and everyone would be assholes, but it is completely opposite. well i do get my ass kicked, but everyone is very helpful and understands that everyone has to start somewhere. keep at it bro..
 
Just jump right in, that's the best way. It will also be fun because you will look back at that day and laugh.

Don't train for training, just jump right in you will be like everybody else when they first started regardless of cardio level.
