STARFIELD discussion

Ended up starting a new character this morning. I went with the Introvert trait, but I pretty much had a companion right out of the gates. Picked Extrovert this time around and the trait that boosts your companions when you do stuff they like. The starter Consolation gal likes "good" choices and that's how I like to play. Read the Wanted trait is good too for bounty hunters to try and take you out so it's a nice little bump in loot. Also more focused on my skills in the beginning going for Security, Weight Lifting, and Persuade to help out in the early game.

Made it to the same spot where I rerolled, so looking forward to getting on with the next batch of quests.

I went with Extrovert and Wanted as well. I think my third pick is the Neon origin. The Wanted trait has already had 2 seperate occasions where bounty hunters attacked my ship. One was a level 12 when I was a 4, so I just paid him off lol.

I'm gonna romance Andreja over Sarah. Andreja has a better backstory, plus I prefer brunettes.

Is this really something people of a certain belief system are losing their minds over?

i dunno if im playing the game wrong but i seem to be just try to melee everything i come across or just attack with my mining laser just to conserve as much ammo as i can. and then near the end of the game i'll probably have so much bullets i will never be able to expend them all if i tried.

maybe i should just start selling alot of shit for ammo too. im still way early into the game but outside of the main starting battle i havent even really used a gun.

i'm probably doing it wrong, but theres a bit of a hoarder and stingy bastard inside of me, just like in fallout.

though if i could get through the game by just smashing everything with a pipe wrench, i probably would. shout out to Big Jim from fallout 4. that monstrocity has gotten me through some rough times. i want to carry on its legacy and fuck the whole universe up with it!

edit: dammit, i cant see anything related to big jim or pipe wrenches in starfield. that kinda bums me out a little. i guess someones gonna have to mod them in, but if i have to go that route, i'd rather just smash everybodies skulls in with a purple dildo.
Fighting pirates and spacers will get you some decent ammo imo

I've been getting into crafting last two days. I want to get that laser ammo that burns enemies

No. Not really. Random British guy seems upset, but on the whole, I haven't seen much outrage over it. Much like TLOU2, it will sell, despite some people mining for outrage clicks.

I ponied up for early access. About 5 hours in. Loving it so far. Runs a lot better on Xbox than I was expecting, the graphics are really good too.

my only complaint so far is the Dialogue and that's only because I was playing Baldurs for the past month.

The faces when they talk, when two NPCs should be talking to each other but they're staring at you while talking to the other NPC lol. And so far not much options with your background picks (i had maybe 3 times i could choose a dialogue options that was attributed to my background).

Only other complaint is went unarmed right away but i think there is no fist weapons and it's not fun trying to punch people to death so you can level up boxer lol

But all in all, it's a bethesda game and I'm just turning my brain off and exploring.

i'm unreasonably annoyed that there is a working crack of this game thats been out for a day or two now, and meanwhile I'm not allowed to play it for another couple days because i paid for it lol. Beef up your copy protection bethesda.

Many games use denuvo protection and it actually works well. But the catch is it can mess with performance. And I’m willing to be Bethesda didn’t want there 30-50fps game to dip into the below 30 range.

After some time I can understand the gripes about different loading screens. Theyre certainly plentiful.

At the same time, I dunno what the alternative is sometimes. Did people think they would actually fly a ship billions of miles unbroken or something?

I think with flying if you could traverse In a solar system faster that would be fun (flying from earth to mars to Jupiter, etc) . Flying from one solar system to another probably needs a load screen (going though the journal to travel has made it a lot better

A little happy that my 7900xtx paired with a 9700k is rocking this game hard.

well still an upgrade to a 5800x3d would be a really good path down the road and he wouldnt need to swap boards and his ram would still be fairly okay. though anything above that and it would probably be optimal to go for a new board and faster ram.

thats the one thing i like that amd has over intel. with intel its pretty much a dead socket every generation and your only feasible upgrade path once it gets older is the is the i9-xx900k matching whatever socket he's running. whereas with amd, this guy has a bit older cpu but he still has a fairly good upgrade path down the road because its not a dead socket. if he doesn't want to go all out on a new board/ram/cpu combo. he could easilly get away with just parking like a standard 5800x in there and still see a whole lot of improvement, especially in games that are cpu heavy. sure maybe he wont be able to run some of the faster clocked ram without swapping boards, but in the grand scheme of things it wouldnt matter too much as he would still be able to get alot of gains.

I am not really sure that is necessary. I game with a 9700k with a 7900xtx and it is hard for it to be cpu limited if you are running at resolutions above 1080. You might get lower 1% but if you aren't someone who is playing fps competitively at 1080, it doesn't matter much. I think people can still upgrade their CPU every 4-5 years and never really be bottlenecked by the CPU.

valid point.

Funny how the IGN review got slammed before people got hold of the game and now people are thinking it was one of the more fair reviews and that most outlets that gave it a 10/10 are afraid to not get future review codes from Microsoft. Anyone else expected very mixed user reviews when they come out on Steam and MetaCritic?

Lemme guess. Once the game gets user review bombed minutes after official release and gets a score of 4, that's going to be the REAL review score, right?

Just say "I'm going to pretend every high score doesn't exist." That's what's happening.

I can sorta see it. But mechanically it would be sort of pointless. You're traveling millions of miles. I don't really see a way you can make that a fun journey. You're going so fast nothing can actually happen and you can't actually see anything. It would be, pardon the pun, dead space.

You have to buy the game to review Starfield on Steam

you can still do both at the same time, letting players have that choice isn't a bad thing. When you travel between the planets on a solar system you don't use the grav drive for a cut scene it just shows them jetting off to said planet, time doesn't seem to matter in this game, so why not allow your ship to be able to fly in a solar system a little bit faster just for the fun of it?
