BTW:

Colin Trevorrow was fired by Lucasfilm for two main reasons:

1. He wanted Luke alive

2. He wanted Snoke alive

Mark Hamill, in an interview, said he was excited to work with Colin because they were "on the same page" about everything.

Now, I know Colin is not a great director by any means....but at least he has the fans in mind.

*sighs*

Can someone link me to the new Mark Hamill is disappointed thing in the title? I love when MH is disappointed in TLJ, it further validates my avoidance of it

@Dragonlordxxxxx why u make this stuff so hard to find for us simple folk

Is this confirmed or a rumor?

Fapped to that Carol Marcus scene.

Oh boy I feel so cheap.

The ironic thing is I can imagine some "woke" comedy show doing a sketch claiming that's the kind of scene you would get in the proposed Last Jedi fan remake, Luke sneaking a peak at Rey changing clothes.

I mean its hardly some great crime but it seems like such an obvious example of hypocrisy, if Abrams were the commited feminist director he claims he is then why would you include something like that? I mean its not that its very graphic so much as its so totally irrelevant to the film, I'v no problem with wall to wall sex if its for some purpose but this felt like a 13 year old boy directing a film.

Well Mark Hamill said "we were on the same page talking about showing Luke in a way we have never seen him before" -kinda paraphrasing there.

Plus this twitter exchange where Trevorrow is clearly dissing The Last Jedi and Mark Hamill replying with "Please hire me for the mentor role,..I'm unemployed" - note...this is when it was unsure if Mark would return for episode IX after he said "Harrison is gone, Carrie is gone...I just don't care anymore"

Haha Petey and his opinion on a movie he’s never seen, I love it! Rian J lives in your head rent free huh? Can’t wait to hear your opinions on episode 9!

Lol at Colin that hack fraud... good luck with your Dinos.. he had a top director but his script was terrible so even that man couldn't save it.. 3rd movie will be a rough ride.

So glad he was removed from Star Wars early on.

@Petey's review of Ep. 9

"Waz way too predictable to me & I heard that Billy D waz in it rocking some bad ass capes, but their weren't enough Porg's in it imo. I mean, I haven't seen it or anything, but I'm sure that's the way it is."

I've never seen this video before, but it pretty much captures how badly Disney failed in trying to portray strong female characters. It was all virtue signaling over substance in the end, intended or not. It really shows how incompetent Rian Johnson and kathleen Kennedy are.

Great video.
Completely destroys the stupid misogynist argument. No one has ever said anything bad about Leia, and she's always been a strong, female from the very beginning.
Female isn't the problem, it's poorly written female characters written by shitty writers thinking they're writing strong characters while failing miserably at it that's the problem

What a pile of shit in that video.

My god this people are so desperate they can't even put out a decent hate job together.

Waste of time to even watch it.. missing the point, twisting, stretching, editing.. eh BS.

I mean I think the most you can say is that some of the marketing people played up the slave girl outfit but in the actual film you see her choking the criminal slime ball who views her in that fashion to death.

The issue is Hollywood today has become more focused on cheap tokenism than actual progressive film making(luckily we still have the likes of George Miller for that). Leia in the original was much more directly poking fun at Luke and Han's expectations of her and in Empire was ultimately the one doing the saving(or attempted saving) of them.

As that video pointed out its also obsessed with rewriting history to try and paint new releases as far more important than they actually are.

Yeah, but even that was just 1 scene of one of the movies. She's in all 3 movies and is mostly covered neck to foot.
Leia is as strong a character as Luke or Han, and at times she was stronger, giving them some moral or ethical focus.
No one has a problem with her, or the tons of other well written female characters from Sarah Conner to Ripley to The Bride on Kill Bill

Again though even in that scene its not the same as Abrams showing Kirk peaking at Carol Marcus in her underwear like a schoolboy, its Jabba taking the strong Leia we see earlier in the film and looking to belittle her as much as he possibly can before she gets the one up and kills him.

What you could say I spose is that its a film for our era, Holdo might as well have been called Hilrary with the message of "Follow your leader reguardless because erm feminism and stuff". Even that is something we obviously saw in the earlier films that deal with Leia being the more senior political figure(not to mention leader of the whole alliance being a woman) and done so in a far superior fashion.

The reality is that the blockbuster era of the late 70's and 80's was actually a pretty progressive era, your dealing with the likes of Lucas, Speilberg and Cameron coming out of 60's counterculture. Leia, Marion, Sarah Conor, RIpley, etc and quite often a real political message to push. Again these days modern Hollywood just seems to go with empty tokenism.

This. So much this. Everyone remembers Han's iconic, "I know" response to Leia telling him she loved him. What some people forget is the exact scene is played out in reverse in RoTJ. Han is about to be captured by Stormtroopers when Leia, who is wounded, hands him a blaster,

Han, "I love you!"

Leia, "I know".

Leia was complete bad ass, shooting Stormtroopers, choking Jabba the Weinstein and throwing Shade at Mofferfucking Tarkin himself,

"Governor Tarkin. I thought I recognised your foul stench".

Hell, the only time she even shows fear of Vader is when he's about to torture her(Worst Bring Your Daughter to Work Day Ever!). Leia is a bad ass and it feels completely natural. She's that cool because it's organic to her character and the story, not because it's been shoe-horned in for the sake of diversity and equality.

lol, the quality of the video is up for grabs, very subjective, but his point isn't IMO, which I thought he made well. The latter I can argue.

What did he miss that makes this so shit to you, and how did he stretch things? The only thing I could see as a flaw, and he was probably just being hyperbolic, is saying that Rey trained herself. She's a quintessential Mary Sue, never earning her incredible achievements (awful, awful character), but Luke did technically show/teach her some things. Other than that, I think he nailed it.

We've see KK in interviews talk about how she didn't owe the fans anything and that she was setting out to make this trilogy to focus on strong females characters, wanting to give young girls the type of role model Luke was to us/me. This was all fine to me. We had two trilogies with male Jedi as main leads. I was hoping for an Asoka type female lead. However, being incompetent as she is, KK forgot the character aspect.

I wish I could have seen what JJ had planned. I can't imagine it was the Benny Hill-like parody Rian gave us. TFA was a let down, but it was fun and he did set some stuff up that could have justified things.
