NO ONE..NO ONE ever said "Oh that's bullshit Vader beating Luke!"

What would have been bullshit was if Luke beat Vader with very little training --- like Rey did. She has already murked Kylo with no training, Bested Luke after a short time of training, wiped out those guards.

There is not build up to her being this great saviour -- she was just an asskicking bad ass from the get go.

She did not “best “ luke.

Luke was toying with her with a stick, she went for the light saber, luke stumbled backwards and caught himself with the force.

If she hadn’t stopped he would have unleashed the whoop ass

Here’s the problem I have with people regurgitating the line” empire was hated until decades later”

Is just blatantly false, how old are you and were you old enough to remeber that time and a fan then?

Sure, you can google around and find some critics of Empire, but it was majority loved , it was a golden era of Star Wars as a fan, Star Wars was everywhere, toys flew off the shelves, kids played Star Wars non stop.

Actors were making appearances everywhere!

If Darth Vader was somewhere to sign autographs people flocked like crazy to see them.

David Proust came to a large dealership by my house as a kid, people flocked there(this was a lot more common back in the day large dealerships paying for appearances for all kinds of shit to drum up sales, big foot, USA-1 etc etc), I waited in line for hours to meet Darth Vader and have my Batha Tracks club shirt signed.

Shits bullshit, empire realistically did not get the hate the media likes to spin on it now as a cover up for TLJ bullshit.

It’s HORSE SHIT, empire was LOVED by a LARGE majority

Whilst technically I was "around" the time being born in 78 the view I'v always heard is that Empire got a bit of adverse critical reaction(although certainly wasn't hated) and was slightly less successful than the original at the box office but always popular with fans, certainly nothing like the reaction to TLS I'd agree.

Honestly I think what your seeing already after less than a year is that just as with TFA interest in TLJ is dropping away VERY quickly. I mean I only saw Jedi at the cinema but Star Wars itself was retaining very high levels of interest though the rest of the 80's and into the early 90's. More recently as well Lord of the Rings was being constantly talked about though its release not just by big fans and for a good few years afterwards.

Naw, she bested him.

Luke was shook and defeated by a GIRL with a day of Prep.

Honestly I think if you look at both TFA and TLJ as a whole there really not films that care very much about the credibility of the setting, certainly not to the degree of the originals. Its the same with Abrams Trek films, keeping the pace fast ala Michael Bay is what matters and its not really credibility like the originals that's desired so much as a few points of nostalgia drawn from them.

I mean yes the originals are relatively broad blockbuster cinema but they have some ambition to them, these sequels basically demand you disengage common sense, get action/humour/nostalgia throw in your face for a couple of hours them quickly forget about them.

I've never seen this video before, but it pretty much captures how badly Disney failed in trying to portray strong female characters. It was all virtue signaling over substance in the end, intended or not. It really shows how incompetent Rian Johnson and kathleen Kennedy are.

As I'v said before I think films like the Starwars sequels and Ghostbusters are "troll cinema", they want to draw interest via politics but not actually via having anything political to say, rather by hoping to troll a small percentage of misogynistic fans(who probably do have an issue with stuff like Aliens as well). Done in the hope of building more media credibility and trying to shout down or even avoid people having a negative opinion of the film for fear of looking bigoted.

I mean the fuss around Kelly Tran being abused online to be seemed rather hypocritical, yeah those doing so are scumbags yet this feels like dressing someone up in a Charlie Hebo Mohamed T-shirt and dropping them off in an ISIS town then screaming about the inhumanity when there cut to pieces.

One more time as well, JJ Abrams feminist film maker....

Yeah, this is true. Im old enough to remember people talking about Empire before Jedi came out and people loved it for the most part. The way back google engine might find some quote mining of people criticizing it, but for the most part the fans loved it.

See.. We have to stop calling it "Ghostbusters." It's not Ghostbusters. My tv is also confused, and I can't find the original now. It's a problem. The new movie that stole the name isn't as good. Oh, and the original had 2 female characters l liked more than in the "new one."

Anyone who vocally hated it back then, doesn't have the platform people do now to bitch about it and ensure that bitching is widespread.

I dunno if you can stretch it that far. In my entire life I’ve never met anyone criticizing Empire. Within reason I mean. Somebody that doesn’t like Star Wars won’t like it.

That video is fantastic. Needs to be seen by everyone.

I live in Korea where...the older Korean women...like Kathleen Kennedy...are stuck in the past. Half of the young women are super cool and very liberal...the other half are ******** awful and treat men like dirt (basically have their cake and eat it too types).

I don't know a single fan of Star Wars that didn't like it at the very least. Critics might have attacked it for being open-ended, as that was new, I don't recall the reception, but it did really well and sold crazy merchandise.

Yup, keep that pace up, distract with loads of eye candy, and hope no one realises how shitty your film is
