more people need to go read hamills full comment about it "sucking"

Its like people posting the quote saying einstein belived in a god and there fore was chrisitan

It had its moments but the asian girl was not needed, remove her scenes and the movie wouldve been the same.

The iconic light saber was made a joke when luke threw it away and the way it was executed.

Snoke had all this build up, to be killed off, he had potential as a major villain.

Han solos son big nose just comes of as an emotional emo brat (personally they shudda kept his masks on)

So Rey, isnt a skywalker? Shes from regular parents that ditched her. Lazy writing.

Mark Hamill himself said the movie sucked, thats enough to convince me that I agree.

But glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully ep9 is waaaaaaaayyyy better

Yea could have done without Rose but then again not a deal breaker for me. Overall I did like the dynamic with DJ and the lessons there so that's a big plus for me. Don't join, good guys, bad guys.. war is profit etc etc a lot of good stuff there a little on the nose with the space horses but hey I can live with it.

Luke trowing the saber wasn't need it I flat out did not like and still not on board with it.. it would have suffice to drop it down by his feet that would have been fine no need to go full joke mode in that moment.

Snoke getting killed was a twist and when I saw it the first time I was freaking out and I did not see it coming one bit.. (well when the saber moved yea okay but before that hell no) so you know what I'm good with it, could have seen more but I'm not all in on Snoke he played his part already.

Kylo is a big win for me, I liked him in the first and I like him even more after the second one, I love his conflict and his whine ways :D and he had moment like looking at Rey with his hand out and saying "Please." it was perfect.. he is by far the best actor in the franchise, I'm all on board on the Kylo train.

I predicted and was hoping Rey is a Kenobi but thinking back now there is no need to make the galaxy smaller with everyone being from a family and having connections like that.. I guess I'm fine either way they go, who knows JJ maybe reverses this choice but it wasn't that big of a deal I got hyped about it but in retrospect I'm less affected by the choice then I was initially.

Mark wasn't happy with everything but overall if you read everything from him he does like and respect the director and the movie they made, could be PR and but who knows.. I'm sure he wanted to be more badass and have more presence in more movies, what else does he do voice the joker ? of course I will dislike it if they kill me of if I was him too.

I've seen the movie quite a few times, it's not perfect there are some changes and some things that irk me but overall I'll take it.. and can't wait for the final piece of the trilogy.

Don't Sith lords explode in blue flames when they die? Snoke didn't.

lol at these people's trolling. The best they can hope for is to make a decent fan fiction youtube yeah? & if that's the case... then just do it like everyone else does. I suppose they're trying to hype it up though, so whatevz...

One thing most of the resistance over-looks about the Canto Bight section is the scene where Finn was all thrilled by the environment until Rose pointed out the corruption, slavery, & child abuse there. It is an important part of Finn's character arc. You can almost feel his mind shifting in that moment to becoming a full on Rebel.

That scene is not only important for Finn's character arc... it's important for the arc of the whole franchise. You have to understand why the democratic & good willed New Republic are the good guys... as they work to suppress & eliminate stuff like that. They may have their faults, but at least they aren't straight up murdering & enslaving people.

We've only seen one die on screen... & it was him falling into a reactor that caused those blue flames. Dooku & Vader were not the master.... but they were lords... & they didn't go all highlander when they died.

Snoke is not a Sith. He's more dark than light... but he does not follow the Sith religion. It makes him a more balanced dark side user than a straight up Sith.

Is that in books or video games or something? That's 100x more information than both movies together give us about Snoke.

Did they ever suggest that he is one in any movie so far ?

No mention of it in this 2 movies.

No yellow eyes cause he doesn't even need to hide them like Palp in the Senate or Doku.

Until they reveal it otherwise I say it safe to say he isn't one, just a force user that did embrace the dark more but understands the importance of balance.

Maybe in the next movie we get Sith Kylo full on rage mode with yellow eyes and fallowing the teachings of Vader, who knows we shall see.

You may be right. I just don't think the two movies combined showed me enough for me to say much of anything about Snoke with any confidence. I knew him about as well as I knew Jack Palance in Tango and Cash.

It really wasnt bad. Im convinced no star wars film will get a good reception from fans

I'm a big Star Wars fan. While I didn't love the prequels, each and every one of them had elements that I thought were fantastic, and I actually left the cinema after RotS incredibly excited. Still watch it from time to time, I think it's great; the good FAR outweighs the bad. I really enjoyed Force Awakens. I thought Rogue One was amazing.

I tried watching The Last Jedi a second time, and couldn't do it. There isn't a single scene I care about, not one. I don't care about any of the characters any more. I liked the Rey/Ren dichotomy, and it feels like despite the work they put into in in TLJ, it's fizzling.

I haven't spent too much time in this thread because I don't want to be one of those whiny bitches that spends a hundred posts complaining about a children's film, but I hope this trilogy gets back on track. It definitely can, the films in the original trilogy had almost no threads tying them together. They shared a few subplots in the face of a much larger, generic narrative. None of the films needed any of the other films to be great.

I'm going to be excited about the next movie, and I'm going to get my hopes up, and don't feel I have any reason to believe I'll be disappointed.

I still really disliked The Last Jedi, though. It's the only Star Wars anything I genuinely did not like. Well, that and the Christmas Special, which I liked just fine when I was ten.

I watched The Last Jedi again this week . . . didn't like it any more than I did the first time. If anything, I think it wasn't as good as I first thought.

Yeah, there's actually quite a lot of Snoke's back story that has been told in Canon... just not in the movies. Personally I "want" to know as much about Snoke as I can... but for the sake of the movie trilogy... I don't "need" to know it. His purpose was to show how this upper middle class kid became the leader of the biggest military force in the galaxy. That's not an easy thing to describe... but it's perfectly understandable to me... so I think they did a good job. Snoke's backstory is just dressing. It is not needed.

What we know about Snoke

Snoke was not a Sith. He saw value in the light side. He was more dark than light, but he did not follow the Sith religion.

Snoke is the dark presence that Sidious felt from the unknown regions & Sidious sent scouts out to find it. Vader couldn’t feel it though & Sidious felt that Vader should’ve been able too… so he must be conflicted. Snoke actively hid from Sidious & saw him as a threat. Snoke witnessed the entire rise & fall of the empire. When the empire was defeated, many of the Empire retreated to the unknown regions where they would've gotten lost were it not for the help of guides who served Snoke. The officers re-organized themselves into the First Order & to the surprise of the leaders, Snoke rose to power.

Snoke & Luke have met before. They met decades after the fall of the Empire, but prior to Luke opening his school. It wasn’t clear if it was by hologram or in person… but Snoke was impressed by Luke & vice versa. Luke didn’t realize how dark Snoke was. Luke told him how he wanted to tweek the Jedi religion & that he was learning from as much ancient teachings as possible & Snoke respected that a great deal.

Eventually Snoke felt like Luke was a threat & that the reason he reached out to corrupt Ben was to over throw Luke. He felt like Ben had the right balance of the dark & the light side of the force in him so him corrupting Ben’s mind was a 2 fold benefit. He would use Ben as his apprentice while simulataniously overthrowing Luke’s efforts.

As best as I can tell, Snoke only manipulated him mentally until Ben destroyed Luke's temple & after that would be the first time they actually met face to face.

His ring came from the catacombs beneath Vader's castle on Mustifar.
