You'll never convince me that TLJ is anything more than a pretty-looking mess, but I like your style. It would be boring if everyone agreed on how shitty this film was.

What did you think of Black Panther? You excited for Infinity War? To keep it short as I'm supposed to be "working", I thought BP was decent, with a great villain. I'm a big fan of Michael B Jordan. I'm excreting nerdgasms daily waiting for Infinity War. I Love the MCU films/shows. Agents of Shield is terrible at times, but I love it.
I’m with u Brutha. I’m super excited for Imfinity War. In my 40’s . This is the culmination of my childhood dreams . To see this shit on screen ...is...beyond words . I gotta go back to AOS. Left it at season 1.

Way off topic but I never got into aos, didn’t finish the first season.

On the other hand I loved arrow, iron fist and the series with the time traveling ship with the dc crowd.

And historically Batman was the only dc character I really liked. I watched the Superman movies as a kid but wasn’t into him like Batman. (Loved the Adam west Batman show as a kid)

Anyway, I’ve lost track with the marvel stuff, seems like they spit out to many to fast. I lost track.

Guardians one was great, 2 was ok.

I’ll prolly wait till infinity war is on sale on dvd if the kid asks for it, he hasn’t said anything about going to see it.

Just the “new “ SW(not 8), solo and the Obi Wan fake trailer movies.

No they aren’t. Empire is nicely filmed but not as nice as the last Jedi. Cinematically the last Jedi was beautifully done.

The cinematographer did an amazing job.

It was better than TFA but honestly I think it suffered from the same kind of issues(as indeed did the prequels), too bright and cartoonish.

Empire and Rogue One are both far more consistent in looking good and far classier generally.

The prequels had too much CGI. Last jedi was cinematically beautiful but that story just didn't work.

They should remake the prequels but pretend they were designing it in the 50's. The original trilogy has such excellent design work.

I've been wanting a show that looks like it was made during the Original Trilogy. I mean, I guess that was FIREFLY.

Empire was ground-breaking. The Last Jedi is a good looking film. Empire was a game changer.

It has its moments but again generally I think it was lacking in subtley and grit relative to Empire and Rogue One, the prequels I think tended to go down a similar path too often as well.

The Firefly ship is ugly as hell. But the star wars ship designs of the 70s are fantastic. I'm not sure anyone today would design a millenium falcon or tie fighter. The a-wing looks like something someone would design today. Even the first lightsabers are odd but memorable. They're not ergonomic, they have boxes bulging out of them.

I think one interesting thing to consider is the way STarwars and Ridley Scott seemed to have a kind of visual too and fro going on in this era.;..

A New Hope - Alien - Empire Strikes Back - Blade Runner

That always bothered me.

Do you think Joe Johnston still has it? Wasn't he the one who designed the Falcon? I'd love to get Ian McQue in there.

And Serenity was an ugly ass ship. I get that it's supposed to look like ... some kind of bovine, but fucking heo, m8.

Ridley Scott
I deem KINGDOM OF HEAVEN my renegade STAR WARS film, based on story and costume design.

BP: It could have been bolder. Creatively I think it's a stepback considering the spears and dudes atop rhinos and other such acceptable racist jokes -- which don't get me wrong I didn't especially mind. I'm just calling a spade a ... wait. Strike that last bit. I came away thinking pretty much I like Winston Duke. Michael B. Jordan (sans hip hop villain theme) and Andy Serkis are tremendous. Chadwick is solid. John Kani's eye was my main villain, and I would put it up there with Lee Pace as Ronan and Cate Blanchette as Hela. I did dig the gimmick tech with the surveillance; when T'Challa picks up the little model to reveal Nakia inside the truck.

IW: Nope, but I never get excited for MCU films. They do grow on me. I already got tickets, though. So I do put my money where my mouth is. I really like Josh Brolin and I think Thanos looks great and moves really great. But all this slow motion posing better have a discernible throughline. I don't expect much from the Russos but hopefully they've positioned the camera better this time around.
Yeah man, BP was just good to me, but I always loved the Vibranium/Wakanda lore, so it was cool to see it fleshed out. I love Thanos, and I hope he trashes that place lol, he does look awesome. They really need a top tier villain, I think he's going to deliver. Killmonger and Loki (early on) have been the only solid ones in the films so so far, with Bucky kind of. I love his Winter Soldier portrayal, but I didn't think of him as a true villain at any point.

The best Marvel villains on the screen in the modern age have mainly come from the TV shows, like KIllgrave (jessica Jones) Kingpin (Daredevil).

I liked Sinara from Agents of Shield (Season 5), great theme for her too. Star Wars is really missing a great antagonist now

Joe Johnston designed the Falcon and the X-Wing and probably other stuff that I don't remember. It's not like he hasn't grown or changed since the 70s so he's probably influenced by the design thinking of today. But it would be fun to tell him to design stuff as if was 20 years before the original trilogy/ no influences past the 50's to see what he comes up with. McQue does gritty, wingless, paneled stuff well, he'd be an interesting choice to design stuff.

I was so excited for the battle in the desert and then they went home. Worst blue balls battle ever. When Ed Norton was like "We will all die here" I was like "Yes! Fight each other and die there!"

Well I won’t deny that. I love empire. It’s just a much better movie but the LJ was beautifully filmed.
Yeah, the team's attached with episodes 7 and 8 are great technical film makers and bad story teller's, as evidenced by the really shitty, beautifully made movies.

It's so good looking!!!

The scene with Saracen horsemen creating a vortex in the desert was godly.

So what happened between Rogue One and A New Hope, did Vader's space arthritis kick in? Talk about breaking continuity.

Only a pretentious douche, who is a blind fan boy, will only harshly criticize the entry in the series he hates (probably because all of his predictions were wrong and his childhood was destroyed) and give the rest of the series a pass for some of the dumb shit that happened in the past.

why do you keep talking about other movies?

Youre smoking crack. Theres nothing redeemable by this shit movie. Its not like shit turns to gold later. This movie has no redeemable qualities and is the worst star wars film ever made
The only strong things in TLJ for me were the visuals, Adam Driver's acting, cuteness (porgs and BB-8) and the fact that Rey isn't another Skywalker. It's really too bad it was so poorly executed though, with her character having no development and all. I kind of admire Rian Johnson for doing whatever the fuck he wanted, but ultimately he comes across as a terrible filmmaker here. I'm going to have to watch Looper and see what the fuss about him was.

I put all the blame on Kathleen Kennedy though, she's fucking worthless.

LOOPER is pretty good, but it's really BRICK that put Rian Johnson on everyone's radar. He's got good pulpy ideas but pacing issues. He's a bit precious with his own material, but not as much as Tarantino.
