Fair enough.
And while i get what you're saying, i think youre settling for poop. You see this as "well, it was better to have this 3rd thing instead of only 2", and im seeing this as..."you guys have the money and time to do whatever you want, create whatever you want...and this is what you came up with? I gave you a million dollars and a year to come up with an excellent project to enter into the Science fair, and you made an erupting baking soda volcano that you googled how to make"
Maybe my forgiving spirit comes partially from the fact that I've attempted a bit of screenwriting myself. The shit is hard. The creative process can be quite grueling, as you just try to invent characters, situations, locations and events out of thin air.
But I guess my attitude at this point is that the movie's been made. It can't be un-made. And it's too late to change anything. The film we're getting is the film we've got.
The question for everyone now comes down to: Can you find enough to like about it so that you derive enjoyment from the film?
I've watched The Force Awakens twice and found it dreadfully dull both times. The Last Jedi at least entertained me and held my interest, despite its long run time.
With all that said, I do hope that Disney strives to make better and better films, new entries that are worthy of the legacy of the first six movies.
