He definitely worked that stuff into Episode 7, but it was really nothing compared to what I saw in Episode 8. As for what Abrams does in Episode 9...he has his work cut out for him. It's like Johnson was deliberately trying to sabotage the next movie, that is, if the writer and director actually like Star Wars.
Seems pretty straight forward.

Kylo is going down. Rey will do it

Ep 9 needs to make it up now.

It needs to be perfect.

No way it ends so shitty.
No fkin way.

Disney cant be this stupid

You want a two hour movie out of just that? The well has been poisoned on so many fronts. The drama of Rey's lineage snuffed out, the interest in Snoke's backstory snuffed out, now Abrams has to deal with the Rose character, Luke dead and JJ has to go out of his way to work in any kind of answers about what that now-dead character was doing for 30 years if anyone even cares anymore. All of the things that would have fleshed out the trilogy have been summarily executed and replaced with... Rose.

Question for you all that found leia flying funny. What was funny about it?

Just curious btw.

I thought it was cool since she is a descendant of the mighty darth vader.

Definition of cringe worthy scene.

Even tho he did push the whole sjw, diversity, feminity ajenda

Id rather have him continue off the storyline were he left it.

TLJ went overboard, added veganism and animal cruelty to the mix of SJW agendas, not to mention all those boring women leading the ship (one looked like a beak).

I found her character to be largely uninteresting but didn't mind the actress at all. Felt like she was trying the best she could with what she got and she didn't get much.

That said, her one bit of delivery that had me really annoyed was when Finn was asking her why she crashed into him when he was so close to flying into the battering ram laser and she says, "I saved you."

The way she said it just really irked me for some reason. Came across like an obnoxious teenager verbally firing back at a relative during dinner.

She killed Luke by doing that, you know. If Finn destroyed the gun, Luke wouldnt have to use the force so hard that he died.

Ironically though I suspect the central problem with this film to me is actually down to giving DisneyAbrams want they/he wants. That is it doesn't follow though on its own premiss, Rey doesn't join Kylo and instead the characters retreat back to even simpler versions of their previus positions at the start of the film as good/bad.

Had the film ended with Rey joining Kylo and the two of them in some kind of unknown grey area that would have been a very interesting feed into the next film BUT it would also have made for more challenging cinema and demanding a lot of the next film. Instead we got a feel good climax stuck on the end of this film and the next film setup to be very standard good vs evil.

The same with Luke's force training, I wouldn't be supprised if Johnson was told that actually abadonning the Jedi in favour of some new way was a no-no by Disney. So we get a film that hints at interests twists but at the end of the day leaves things in a very similar position.

We also of course get a film that inherits the style of TFA with the goofy/meta humour which doesn't to me seem to hint that Johnson was just doing whatever he felt like.

Its not going to be difficult.

They'e developed plenty of new characters at this point. Kylo will go down, the rebellion will win, and it will be awesome. You will still find reasons to be upset

If you'e reading this, and haven't seen Bright on Netflix go watch that shit. Just finished it and damn I'm impressed

I also didnt know my fart 3 hours ago was bringing friends. Just cuz its a surprise doesnt mean its a good one.

And, hang on, so i didnt know how he was gonna betray snoke and us a grand battle, but holy bejesus, it HARDLY was a surprise that hed turn on his master in this movie.

His first encounter with snoke in this movie gave enough foreshadowing that Crylo was gonna turn on him. I mean, when ever have we seen a sith lord ridicule his disciple so harshly than when snoke gave crylo a reality check?

Heres what i was surprised about, that shitty death, followed by a goofy brawl. What surprised me that within that shitty brawl, no light sabers touched.

Moses smell the roses.

Look, i cant make you guys NOT like it i guess, but fuck, youd think peeps would demand more of themselves.

It wasn’t that bad off a kill off. You knew from TFA Kylo is looking for his moment to kill Snoke, what else would Vader’s #1 fan boi do but go for it when put in the same situation Vader was in.

Like the Emperor before him did with Luke, Snoke’s over-focused on destroying Rey and over confident in being able to hold down Kylo. Sith seem to be very goal orienated folks and when they get close to their goal they tend to get tunnel vision I guess.

Whether Kylo struck him down out of principal like Vader or if it was a power grab and was the real reveal. I didn’t need to see Kylo or Rey fight him with force lighting and sabers

Snoke is not sith

Snoke is not sith

Whoops. Replace sith with “emperor/supreme leader/dark side jedi” and it is the same mechanism Star Wars has always used when there’s some over powered dark jedi with the upper hand. Distraction becomes they are obsessed with something.

How the falcon snipes Vader’s TIE, how Emperor Palpatine gets put in the torture rack, how Kylo gets sniped by chewie.

At this point I'm actually hoping they're playing some sort of long game and Kylo lives and becomes a player in the overall Star Wars universe going forward. He's still interesting, and his relationship with Rey has possibilities. Plus After TLJ I feel like they need to develop him a bit more and it would seem difficult to focus too much time in the third movie to do that only to kill him. But we'll see.

It was a bad kill off. The dude basically orchestrated this whole thing by manipulating Kylo to destroy the new Jedi Order and killing Han Solo yet he’s killed off like a joke? It’s ridiculous

Yep it was like a spoof movie moment. That scene plus super Leia flying, anything fat Asian hoe, the slowmotion chase through space, it all seemed like a huge joke to me. I tried watching it a second time with a friend who hasn’t seen it and it was hard knowing what happens. It was embarrassing watching it with him because he was really excited about it. I had to look away and cringe at the whole thing. How this movie is getting any love is beyond me.. I guess the same peeps who love this film like transformers series?

Honestly I felt the issue was we didn't really see enough of him, the idea of Kylo the down trodden out of favour apprentice striking down his oppressor isn't a bad one but there was really only one scene showing that much earlier in the film.

It ended up feeling more like the film believed you should care about it because it was unexpected.

If we're talking about the IMDB score, which seems to be @TrueBias's primary concern here, then the score break down is available for anyone to see in all it's glory:

Its still absolutely bizarre. If were playing the numbers game, it should NOT be difficult to find multiple 10/10 user reviews. I mean, youre showing it via bar graph right there.

I guess im not being clear....
Whether its a rating, a bar graph, or even a pie graph, i simply do NOT buy it.

Shit, if Pubmed published an article about sugar being bad, and 70% of scientists confirmed it to be true, then its true right? Well, lets say i dont understanf why sugar is bad, so i read their tests, but i cant find ONE. Now, how plausible, or more put, truthful are those tests?

You and a handful in here are defending your love for this shit sandwich, but me..and a handful are bashing it. Now, while were going at it, you got some other peeps chiming in here and there. Guess what, most of them arent praising this movie.

Im skeptical of IMDB.
BTW, RT is now at 52%.

Then it wasnt an unexpected surprise now was it. You cant have it both ways.

And when it comes to light saber battles, you say you didnt need one and i have to take your word for it. I needed one.

And ill bet 10 jawas out of 10 that if there was one, youd choose seeing that version over one without a fight.

I thought it was a good film but the way they made Snoke go out like a bitch soured the movie for me.

What really bothered me is that we didn't get to know anything about the dude, like his motivations, his origins, nothing. Aside from that I enjoyed it.

I liked Kylo's progression from an underachiever trying to live up to an impossible standard to becoming his own man and master. That shit was dope, even if the way he did it was suspect.
