I dig all the in-atmosphere fighting the tie fighters and x-wings are set to do, but I thought the reason the battles on land were different in previous movies was because they couldn't do that? Like why'd they use speeders against the giant AT ATs if they could have been using xwings on Hoth?

Huh? They used the Snowspeeders cause the X-Wings and TIE's are incapable of fighting in those battle conditions. The Snowspeeders are just regular speeders that have been specially retrofitted for cold terrain.

X-Wings and TIEs (and other 1 manned craft) would break down too quickly.

What time is the trailer droppin?

I'm guessing half time. I'll just wait for the eventually YouTube upload.

I don't get what you mean by "battle conditions".

Surely the harsh, cold void of space is a worse "battle condition" than the Forrest moon of Endor or the planet Hoth (where as long as you're warmly dressed you'll be ok for awhile)

Mobility? Plus snowspeeder has the tow cables.

I think in the end, you're right though. Abrams lost track of it. I hope it'll be explained.

tickets on sale!

got mine for the 12:01 launch....dont care how dumb it is. Nerd 4 life

Some theaters are scheduling a marathon leading up to the day. Got my ticket right here.

I don't know that's what they said in the movie. I guess snow/ice, gravity and atmospheric conditions are harsher then being in a vacuum. It's a fantasy movie man. Roll with it.

I guess at the end of the day there's lots of little holes like that and we just gotta let them go.

Like in a New Hope Vader calls one of the stormtroopers "commander" and says to tear the ship apart. Well they all look exactly alike. There's nothing to indicate rank, lol. So how does he even know? I mean you can explain it by saying "the force" or by saying "whoever has the balls to talk to Vader is the stormtrooper commander" or something but it's still weird. Their armor is also useless, except maybe against gas - so why not just pump that little rebel ship full of knockout gas? Interrogate all of them...

And AT-ATs have no back-end guns and are extremely immobile. And there doesn't seem to be bazookas in Star Wars.

I mean I could pull it all apart I guess but that would make me a dickhead and I love Star Wars

So imma just shut up

A star fighter would obliterate an at-at. The battle of hoth had no star fighters taking out the at-at as they were support for the capital ships and transports leaving hoth. And on endor it was a stealth mission.

Well done!

didnt one of the leaked scripts/points say it was a planet with a gigantic ass cannon that could destroy planets or systems, a base where The New Order is at?

It doesn't look entirely like a death star to me is all

Guessing the climax of the film though is a throwback to episode 4

Luke is going to be the obi wan/yoda of this movie

Calling it now: The entire movie is gonna be essentially a rehash of episode 4

a protagonist who resents his surroundings (luke/desert farming) (Finn/Stormtrooper)
a wise sage (obi wan) (Luke skywalker), a robot (BB88 or wtv its named) (R2D2/C3P0)
a thief with the heart of gold (Han and Rey who is most likely Solos daughter)

gonna have a midway point where Luke (the wise sage) or Han Solo dies protecting the "new hope" for the Force (Finn or Rey) most likely Han since it was expected his character was gonna die in ESB, so would make sense it happen to kick off the new trilogy

Luke gonna be like the yoda in some capacity and be just on his own being a hermit

ending is probably the xwing pilots sieging the planetary base cannon thing by air and by a ground force using Finn or some shit

Into Darkness showed that Abrams has no problem basically hitting Ctrl C+V on plot points in order to make for an entertaining good movie.

still gonna be way better than the prequels.

Rewatched the RedLetterMedia reviews again and god dammit it just pisses me off more about how hard George phoned it in

The Xwings assigned to echo base were needed to protect the transports evacuating into hyperspace.

The whole Rebel Navy was elsewhere.

Edit: Milinair beat me to it.

Isn't that what the Ion Cannon was for? I didn't see any TIE's above Hoth, just a few Star Destroyers which the Ion Cannon neutralized.

There were TIEs, they chased the Falcon into the asteroid field. A Star Destroyer carries 72 of them.

Not sure why none were shown deployed against the transports and escorts, unless they were escorting the ATAT dropships (which makes sense, no TIEs and the Xwings could've destroyed the walkers before they even landed.

Hoesntly this football game is driving me nuts.

I now hate football thanks to this trailer. Stupid Giants. (I'm a Giants fan)
