I get it, I have friends just like him. Some times I am him.
You love something a lot, and then when a new version of that thing comes out, and it isn't as good as you'd hoped it would be, it's frustrating.
I have a friend who has been a Doctor Who fan since the seventies, and whenever anyone in our group mentions the new episodes he goes off about how terrible it is.
I understand how much he loved the Who franchise and how disappointed in this new incarnation he is, but there comes a point you just want to punch him in the nose because we get it so shut up already.
There are plenty of threads in this forum where people talk about shows that I'd hoped would be good but ended up disappointing me and I try to avoid complaining about those shows, because people are really enjoying them and to be honest, they don't need to know what I don't like.
One place I fail is the new Star Trek movies, because screw those movies, they aren't Star Trek. They're generic science fiction with Star Trek nomenclature. I don't care at all if people are enjoying them, they aren't enjoying Star Trek.
So yeah, I get it. I do it.
But I don't like it, and I don't think it adds much to the conversation.
