Can anyone fill me in on what happened during the Rey flashback scene? I had to go take a piss and when I came back she was running away from the little alien lady after she tried to give her the lightsaber.
I personally loved it. Blew the prequels out of the water. Was a fun movie that made sense.
I guess I'll wrap the rest.
Some stuff I didn't like was the big confrontation on the bridge - although I didn't mind what happened to Han because Ford is so damn old and croggy and kind of phoned it in for this one. He said he was done with the series anyway so fine, bye bye.The scene overall looked great and Kylo Ren did a good job acting, but the dialogue just wasn't really up to snuff. I hated the fact that the resistance is just called "the resistance", it should have been called "The Corellian Resistance" or ANYTHING other than just "the resistance" - kind of ruined that little shithead's speech to just say it was the resistance. The Hiel Hitler saulte was a bit much as well. The whole New Order/Resistance/New Republic plot wasn't well explained, I have no idea who is in charge of the galaxy.
Overall it was a safe approach to the movie and I was glued to the edge of my seat the entire time, unlike with the prequels where I couldn't wait to get the fuck out of there and was doing my absolute best to not just walk out of the theater.
I really didn't like the CGI characters. It always looks fake, it's never looked good, I wish they would just stop doing that shit. The little orange woman looked cartoonish, the guy who was giving out rations didn't look real at all, none of the CGI characters were any good at all, and they never are, in any movie.
I gave it a 9/10 and loved it but those were my complaints.
I had the same issues as DL did with it. Too much referencing of a New Hope. I really felt like it was a remake with new characters and the originals just being older. I will say this though, the action sequences were thrilling and I felt like the 7 year old me that watched Empire in the theater. Some of the story drags in the middle and aside from the bad guy reveal, everything else was predictable. I loved the girl though, she was fantastic and the black guy was great too. 8/10
LMFAO at this part of your spoiler. This screams nerd rage and I was giggling while reading it.
For the record I would say that Revenge of the Sith is better than The Force Awakens. I really digged RotS, and I'm sure plenty will disagree with me but that's my opinion.
I really liked Kylo Ren. I was beginning to think that the movie was too cartoonish until the scene where he removed his mask. I just happen too like brooding characters. Han dying was too predictable, but a good plot device IMO. It's almost symbolic, old gives way to new kind of thing.
I liked the prequals. There, I said it. They're not great cinematic masterpieces, but they're SW, and that's good enough for me.
RotS is awesome, but that's coming from someone who considers D Siddy to be the greatest movie villain eva. It was his showcase. He became Emperor. He destroyed almost all of the Jedi. He drove Yoda into hiding. He turned Anakin into his slave.
I liked KR too, but I'm left wondering about Dark Side lightsaber training after his performance in the snow. His unmasking was great because we discovered that this First Order marauder was just an angry kid with more power than he could handle (can't wait to see the completion of his training from Snoke). (*Note: the way they did his voice when masked was excellent.)
Him killing Han was cold and perfect. It solidified his evilness. He'll be a great villain in the series.

You know, given the lowquality of the stuff Lucas has put out the last two decades, I'm going to hold off being to heavy on Disney. It's not like the EU isn't full of stinkers either. It's just so much to choose from that we tend to remember the good parts.
8/10 for me. Very good movie but not a great. Daisy Ridley was fantastic I might say and so was Oscar Isaac and Harrison Ford for the most part. John Boyega was decent, I hope his character grows into something cooler and so does his acting. The visuals were absolutely mesmerizing in IMAX 3D.
The leadup and fight between Qui Gon, Obi Wan, and Darth Maul was epic. When the door opens and Darth Maul is standing there and Qui Gon says something like "we got this."

The prequels catch too much flack, imo. Sure, they have some really dull moments and overall aren't as good as the originals, but there are great action scenes in every single one of them.
I don't really like 3D in general. It's just me though everyone else I went with loved it. The one scene were the tip of the star destroyer looked like it was 50ft off the screen was amazing though.

I'm envious of you guys. Because of a vision issue I can't really see 3D. Only exception has been the Oculus which has actually helped with the problem, albeit in a transient way.
