lol @ all the hipsters that have to shit on every single movie that gets good ratings because they want to be different.
Lol, no this movie catered entirely to the hipsters. Its all the hipsters giving this movie thumbs up.

You obviously don't understand what the word hipster means. I'm glad you hated the movie and wasted your money, have a good day.

The theater had installed some custom double headed 6 laser, best in the world projector and it was noticeably brighter and more colorful then anything I've seen in 3D.

Liked almost all the new characters besides the Supreme Leader/CGI'd lord of the rings troll and lady yoda bar keep. They were forgettable. As was Captain Phasma who's badass look never paid off in any good action. She's supposed to be this try-hard super solider captain suspicious of Finn's loyalty to the First Order but the second someone points a blaster at her she instantly cooperates by shutting down the entire fortress's shields. That's lazy writing.

It was fun, I want to see it in theaters again, but I didn't learn anything new about the force. The plot is WAY too derivative and the galaxy seems the same as where it was left. A few hours of trotting out some old characters and introducing the new ones but they never bothered writing a new story. Just Disney setting up a sequel.

Sooooooooo everything done since Jedi is null and void, and everything from Force Awakens on is canon?
Not quite. Currently, Ep 1-7 plus the two animated series Clone Wars and Rebels are canon. Everything else is considered "legends", meaning it's probably null and void, but that elements of it might be incorporated.

It made $57 million last night, beating Harry Potter by $14 million. I actually expected more. I was expecting this movie to crush Jurassic World's first weekend take - maybe $250?

Rey is hot. I want her bum in my face.

I personally loved it. Blew the prequels out of the water. Was a fun movie that made sense.

I guess I'll wrap the rest.
Some stuff I didn't like was the big confrontation on the bridge - although I didn't mind what happened to Han because Ford is so damn old and croggy and kind of phoned it in for this one. He said he was done with the series anyway so fine, bye bye.The scene overall looked great and Kylo Ren did a good job acting, but the dialogue just wasn't really up to snuff. I hated the fact that the resistance is just called "the resistance", it should have been called "The Corellian Resistance" or ANYTHING other than just "the resistance" - kind of ruined that little shithead's speech to just say it was the resistance. The Hiel Hitler saulte was a bit much as well. The whole New Order/Resistance/New Republic plot wasn't well explained, I have no idea who is in charge of the galaxy.

Overall it was a safe approach to the movie and I was glued to the edge of my seat the entire time, unlike with the prequels where I couldn't wait to get the fuck out of there and was doing my absolute best to not just walk out of the theater.

I really didn't like the CGI characters. It always looks fake, it's never looked good, I wish they would just stop doing that shit. The little orange woman looked cartoonish, the guy who was giving out rations didn't look real at all, none of the CGI characters were any good at all, and they never are, in any movie.

I gave it a 9/10 and loved it but those were my complaints.

yes, everything is sh1t from then on, official disney canon sh1t.

I actually looked at a little bit of this new canon stuff and it was all terrible, but I thought there is no way the movie itself would have such poor writing, impossible lol. I lost all faith in the online nerd community, the only silver lining is seeing Kristian Harloff try to hide his disappointment, he gave it a 4/5, but his eyes don't lie like that new cgi character says, the only solution is to off himself.

I'm almost done reading Heir to the Empire for the first time, not a masterpiece or anything but that being made into a movie would have been miles more interesting.

My ranking of star wars movies
5
4
6

I dont acknowledge any of the other 4 as star wars movies.
But if you pressed me to rank them i would say that the phanton menace was the less worst of them.

And this gigantic pile of elephant poo was the worst of them all.
This shit is worse than transformers.
At least michael bay TRIES and dont shoehorn political correctness in the movie.

Fuck rey, mary sue type of character.
And specially fuck Kylo. He looks and behaves like justin bieber.

That is the villain guys. Justin bieber. Lovely
Fuck this generation.

lol, gotten to. Will you throw a hissy fit if the white female lead and black male lead get it on?

I saw the originals in the theater, and honestly I always thought they were bad movies. Other then the revolutionary special effects of the time they were just poor stories with poor acting and irrational plots.

I could never understand the appeal of the movies. Well, to be fair I can understand young children enjoying the films, but I have a hard time seeing how Star Wars can be entertaining to anyone over 16 years old.

I gave it a 7/10.

I enjoyed the movie but thought it was too lock step with ANH for my tastes. The acting was far better than the prequels and the story was good, but I felt like it should had stood on its own more and it wasted some potential in that area. I liked the the campy/comedy aspects of the movie but the timing of it felt off a bit early. But perhaps that is due to my own expectations.

And the scene with BB-8 rolling around the Falcon might as well have had a giant Disney logo on it.

Rey was bad ass and the final saber fight was really good. I loved the early shots of the Stormtroopers in the transport and assaulting the village on Jakku.

The visuals of the abandoned Star Destroyers and AT-AT were incredible, especially in the IMAX 3D. The Supreme Leader also looked excellent. I did feel like Ford was a bit plastic to me and didnt have the edge he should have, especially considering the events since ROTJ and turning back to a life of smuggling.

Overall, I think it relied a little too much on nostalgia when it didn't have to. But I guess that's to ease the transition into a new cast of main characters. I have a feeling that Rouge One will hit it out of the park and become the favorite of the early round of new movies.

I thought Snokes looked awesome. I was only upset that he was only a hologram and not actually that big. The movie definitely had its issues and relies on the nostalgia of Star Wars, but it was thoroughly enjoyable.

What entertained me also was watching this guy in front of me get excited about certain parts of the movie. It's great seeing fans react positively to what's happening on the screen. He would shout exclamations of joy and clap his hands upon seeing the old characters and the Falcon when they first appeared or if something cool happens.

What was odd was he also did those things when Han and Chewie first showed up, like he was surprised they were even there. I was thinking at that time, "Has this guy been living in a cave for the past year?"

Same here. Believe it or not the biggest reaction (other than the opening titles) when I saw it was C3P0. He's an OG though, hespect.

That's a tall order for a december release. It's difficult to make the huge weekend numbers that summer releases get. December has gotten to be a good month in general for films during the last 15 years, but not for the opening weekend gross. It's more of a slow burn. Too many people have too much shit to do.

Safe is the best way to describe this movie. They didn't want to do anything that would piss off the fanboys who are already butthurt about the prequels.

yeah its a new hope 2.0

Fun though, makes you remember why you love the star wars universe

No doubt TFA is a reimaging of 4, and I have 0 problems with that. It still continued the SW narrative, but at the same time the filmmakers let us know they were taking the reins of this universe for this generation. I'm glad to see they're taking it seriously.

How could the Death Star have such an easily exploitable design flaw... twice?
Why is Luke's last name still Skywalker if he's supposed to be in hiding?
How could Vader not sense that Leia is his daughter after interacting with her, but he could easily detect Luke's presence in Return of the Jedi?
Why does Leia show no kind of emotion when her entire home planet is destroyed, shitty acting?
Why do all the storm troopers have such horrible aim?

Am I doing it right?

yes, but the things you are listing aren't apples n oranges.

-death star didn't have same design flaw twice, second time it had a shield from endor and was only half completed.
-Luke was hiding in the originals?
-obiwan shrouded lieas identity with the force ;)
-you can't compare bad acting too impossible coincidences.

I'm just saying. .. the originals arent perfect but at least what they do in the movies can be explained with logic.

Best Star Wars movie since Episode V. Do not listen to fools saying otherwise.
