STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Official Thread v.6

It's Star Wars... It's sci-fi and supposed to be a bit cheesy. Why are you expecting something Oscar worthy. Just go in, turn off your head and enjoy the ride.

You guys are looking at it through the eyes of all Sith being world beaters. That isn't the case. There's absolutely no reason to believe that ren is the next coming of Vader. Even in the flashback it looks like Luke was outnumbered. Ren didn't take him 1 on 1.

Came back from the cinema. Good movie (haven't said that a lot this year), 8/10.

is rey stronger then luke? thought he was supposed to be one of the stronger (strongest?) jedi

It was definitely better than the prequels.

There are a few obvious gripes;
- Not enough story telling or character development
- Carrie Fischer reminds me of a wooden spoon
- Why are there never any handrails on long, ominous walkways?
- Kylo Den was Badass ONLY when he had his mask on. No way Han Solo and Princess Leia would make a goober like Adam Driver.
- What's up with jedis going into seclusion whenever a new bad guy appears?
- Rey handing Luke the lightsaber from like 20 feet away. I'm sure even in a galaxy far far away, it's still common courtesy to hand shit to people where they can actually reach it.

We don't know. Luke was the strongest jedi but only because he was the only Jedi.

Of course Luke is the strongest. He's an actual Jedi. Ren isn't even a Sith Lord. He's still just an apprentice. Rey will likely be Luke's apprentice.

That's the problem. If she can whip a long time trained sith within 10 minutes of picking up a light saber and not much longer after having discovered she has 'power'. Give her one month prep time with Luck (seriously) and she can pretty much restore order in the universe.
.

He might be trained but all of the jedi and their knowledge from the old republic is gone, he was trained by a guy who had no actual jedi training outside of doing flips in a jungle with yoda. he's still a cuck compared to the old republic jedi/sith

My thoughts. Spolilers!!
Parts I liked a lot:

I liked that Kylo doesn’t appear “savable” like Vader as he killed his Facking dad.

Han Solo is my Favorite Hero in the OT.

I love “true Villains” not cans like Boba Fett.

Oscar Issac is great and stole all of his scenes with Kylo and Finn.

I liked KR’s real name was Ben.

Hux and Kylo’s Rivalry.

I liked that Rey knew Han Solo as a famous smuggler and that Fin knew him as Rebel Scum.

Parts I didn’t like:

Kylo was a can compared to Rey.

Captain Phasma is a can. I thought she’d take death over de-shielding the Star Killer base. She was also barely in it.

Not enough Oscar Issac.

Needed more info on Snoke. I can’t wait two years.

I am sure I have more I just cannot think right now. I’m sleep deprived.

I liked 90% of the movie besides the final fight scene. I like Rey as a character by I wished they ESB Rey so she should’ve lost the first fight and came back and won but that might be too cliche.

I rated it an 8/10.

We don't know. Luke was the strongest jedi but only because he was the only Jedi.

He took down Vader, which no other Jedi could do. In the years between Revenge of the Sith and a New Hope, one of Vaders jobs was to hunt down and kill all the remaining Jedi, which he did. Everyone except Yoda.

TS did you actually like any of the original star wars movies? Because you could easily nit pick those apart just as easily as you did here.

We need a spoiler thread. I don't want to quote spoilers in case I mess it up.

The fact they skipped 30 years of story meant a lot of shit went down that would have made a better part 7.

I thought that about handrails also. There should really be a health and safety dept. on a death star, or whatever they call it now.

I believe it is because they would be able to feel the presence of Luke if he was nearby, and having an army, would kick his ass. So he hides until it is time to fight back.

I guess that would make sense.

saw it last night and it had some good moments, however ts is right about quite a lot. They basically just copied ideas from the other stars wars (a bigger death star, and they needed to destroy it, a character in a desert discoverers the force, etc). Also they made it really appeal to kids, with the extremely young characters and completely ridiculous coincidences and luck, they should've made it way darker and more r rated. And lasted they built up Kylo Ren as some badass, when by the end you realize hes a wanna be Vader and just complains and cries and gets his ass kicked

Yea the main issue I had with the movie was that it was too derivative of the originals series. There wasn't much originality. But I can understand why the did that... they clearly wanted to get away from the prequals and get back to the stuff that made Star Wars great again. And honestly I'd rather have the movie go the way that it did than go in a shitty direction like the prequals did.

As for Kylo Ren... a bunch of people after the movie were complaining that he was built up to be a huge badass, but basically got beat by a girl who wasn't even trained to use the force etc... but you got to remember he was shot by Chewbacca and injured before the fight, so it wasn't Prime Kylo Ren.

When Disney brought the rights to star wars I had a feeling it was going to be more kid friendly, so my expectations were greatly diminished, and to be honest I'm OK with that. Let the kids have star wars. In hindsight the entire franchise is overrated. We still got Marvel and DC. I mean Hollywood is giving us Batman vs Superman, and aside from the dude they cast as Lex, there's no way they can fuck that up. We can afford to let Star Wars go without kicking up too much of a ruckus.

All I want to know is, has Jar Jar got that cancer yet?

He took down Vader because Vader was torn between killing Luke and making Luke join him and Luke was made more powerful by giving in to the dark side for a moment. Focused Vader would have smote him.
