I think this is not true where I live. If these people were scared, they wouldn't advertise constantly. I am around Gays and Trans all the time and they are the most confident "out there" people you ever met. Their personas are so external it's insane. All My trans friends aren't just trying to 'exist" and just be themselves. They want the world to know who they are and that they are proud. Willing to fight at the slightest offense. But I am in NY and things are way more progressive here. This generation is different. Your narrative is more 20-30 years ago.i also have friends from all different areas of the LGBTQIA+ community & they are literally just people trying to exist in the world in a way that doesn’t sacrifice their own self-acceptance, truth, & comfort… just like everyone else. the biggest difference between them & my straight friends is they are way more scared on a regular basis about how any one random individual might react to them just living.
