Star Wars Discussion: Obi-Wan vs. Mace Windu

It's hard to say. He potentially could have sensed Anakins arrival. At the same time, he had no reserves about immediately attacking Windu and killing his posse. You could make a case that he needed it to be one on one for Anakin to get the shot off. You could also make the case that Taking down Windu at all costs is a major victory, and there was no guarantee that Anakin would have saved him. He took a leap of faith on Anakin, and physically paid for it. All I know for sure is I personally could have written a better trilogy then Lucas

That is the funny think about STar Wars:
Palpatine could have sensed Anakin, but Windu and Yoda (two of the most powerfull Jedis ever) couldn't sense a Sith Lord who was in the same room. You just don't know how the force works.
But why should Palpatine but himself in this Position? He killed three Jedis without breaking a sweat and if he could have killed Windu that easy why didn't he? He could have told Anakin the story about the "Jedis taking over and blabla"

Watch the fight.

Windu deformed palps forever, turned him into a ghoul.

Palps didnt need to lose to windu to manipulate anakin, he was doing that anyway. His knowlkedge of the force was too tempting for anakin.

Theres a reason for this.

Palps was stronger in the force than either Yoda or Windu. Palps studied everything He studied the Jedi arts and Sith teachings. He had a complete view of the force. He even told Anakin this himself.

Exactly

They do mention something about the dark side clouding the vision of the Jedi or some shit earlier in the trilogy. I do think its fair that Windu didn't see his fate coming, because if it's some kind of mind reading deal then what Anakin did was very sporadic. At the same time that gave Sidious no garentee either.Personally, I'm glad they keep the force vague..gives us something to bitch about.

I always hated that scene, those 3 jedi were Jedi Masters. They were skilled lightsaber duelists yet 2 of them died from one slash attempt each and Kito Fisto only deflected a couple attempts before he was cut down.

^^^It was a weak fight. They should have shown some real dark side shit, that was their opportunity.

Question for ppl who think Palps sensed anakin coming, which I agree with. Why couldnt he sense Luke on Endor?

He was one of the most powerful force users ever, he should have been able to sense someone as strong in the force as luke. I think Vaders connection to the force finally overtook his masters as sideous fortold in Revenge of the Sith and that's why he was able to sense it and not palps.

I don't know. All this: "the dark side of the force clouds the vision of the Jedis" seems cheap to me. I always think after he made the three movies some guy asked George Lucas: " Why didn't anyone of the Jedis know that Palpatine was a Sith." And Lucas just stand there for five minutes lookink like a retard, and then said: "Because.....,er,....the dark side clouded there vision, or, something like that."

Don't talk about it, when i watched it for the first time i nearly throw the TV out of my Window.

holy crap I know! that drove me nuts. Palps wasn't even moving that fast. They should have atleast sped up the camera so that it looked like he was moving too fast for his strikes to be defended. But instead they even zoomed in on his face, he gave this goofy grin, then attacked. It took a solid 2 seconds to perform. Fisto was deflecting blaster shots in Attack of the Clones.

You could make a few cases:

Vader, while not as trained, is more tuned to the force then anyone ever.
Luke may have been actively reaching out to Vader.
Their biological relationship could have made them sensitive to each other.
Sidious knew all along, and it was yet another plan to elaborately seduce a new apprentice.

They could have even just had a very skilled duel. Maybe they're not a fast because they're good, and they don't have to be. Instead we got slop. As far as I know Lee(dooku) is a decent swordsman IRL, he should have stepped the fuck in and helped

Sidious knew.... lol

Head to head, with no interference I'd give it Mace, easy.

i see wat u did there

They were like karate black belts circa UFC 1. And Sidious busted out the BJJ.

A Sith lord > Jedi master. And by a lot.

A Jedi has to be of legendary status to be near the same level as a sith lord.

hmm good pt

to be a sith lord u have to kill the previous sith lord to usurp his position

the siths used fear and intimidation in their training and thus sith lords are usually more powerful than jedi masters
