Television Squid Game II

Season was solid, obviously not as good as s1 but entertaining enough to binge in two days. The tranny, the mom, dumb guy who hired the mercenaries, recruiter and front man were all really good. The rapper Chanos was a huge can, he would’ve gotten brutally besmirched by the gangster from s1. The shaman lady and old guy who wanted to keep playing were also cans.
The trannie was the true mvp

One of the biggest disappointments was no one ever slapped the shit outta her, especially when she threatened to curse them.

Think it was mentioned she was a shaman of the ocean. Someone should have reminded her they're not close to the ocean and won't be in the ocean for her magic to work.

Shamans are like fortune tellers.
They're bullshit merchants, preying on the weak-minded and gullible.

Didn’t the tranny slap the shit out of her during the second game when she was melting down? Or was that someone else.

It is called acting you fvcking retards 🤣

Activists are never satisfied. They always want more.

Positive portrayals of trans-people in TV series? And the sequel-season to the most popular streaming show of all time?

Not satisfied with it because it wasn't an actual trans-person to play the trans-person.

For those who don't know, I'm very 'anti-woke' and can smell leftist agendas coming a mile away.
In this show, if anything they were coming close to making fun at the trans-person than praising her.

'She' willingly votes to continue in the games... putting her life on the line and voting for more 'O's to be forced to compete in the next game so they would die so she'd get more money... to pay for plastic surgery and move to Thailand.

{<diva}

If this wasn't on Netflix, I'd have a sneaking suspicion this would be the first half of a self-acceptance arc. 'She' realizes 'he' was who 'he' was the entire time and 'he' doesn't need any surgeries or to move to Thailand.

He is always who he was meant to be.

Dude was fucking entertaining as hell though. Had to be an awesome role to play, “hey we want you to come and just act like a complete tool.”

I guess it goes downhill after the first episode because I see a lot of comments on yt saying final scene of first episode was the best part of the season.

I saw the first two episodes and really like the first episode, second episode was okay.

I had the same feeling with Ep1, but things pick up steam after that.

Good call. Just finished the season, & I ended up liking the rest of it a lot more.

First two episodes were kind of a slog to get through, convoluted writing & the overall disappointment that Squid Game 2 would not be truly classic like the first one... but once the games got going, it did get more engaging & fun to watch at least.

Nowhere near the powerful character study & high stakes situational drama of the first season. And the writing took a nosedive with regard to intelligence, & continuity within its own world & rules... but still. Fun watch.

If the first season is a 9 plus, I'd say this one's hovering somewhere around a 7.

I've rewatched the 1st & 2nd episodes and they're better the 2nd time.

Haven't rewatched the rest but unfortunately the main flaw I didn't mention in my previous posts was that you get the feeling that characters that are getting the vast majority of the screentime have 'plot-armor.' Meaning they can't be killed off until a pivotal moment in the narrative, and all of the dozens of 'players' killed in the games are no-namers.

Phenomenal video about much of the themes of S2 that went over my head.

I caught a few of them, as I mentioned in my previous posts, but this video lays them out more... academically.

Quickly!
Can someone start season 2 without watching season 1?

Loved it overall despite some obvious flaws.

The dumbest (of many) things about the suicide plan at the end is that the whole point of the main character is not to become like them. He proves that in a stupid way in the Russian roulette already. But somehow he thinks it's ok to sacrifice the whole team of Xs? It would have actually been more moral here to kill the Os, so you can at least try to save those Xs.

Length of the season... I legitimately thought this was only half and they would drop some more episodes soon. But I guess that will be season 3 then?

Characters... The mom was really cool. God damn it was heartbreaking to see her and her son and also how they hung out with their whole gang including the badass transgender girl. I don't want them to die in season 3. These were the insane emotional moments I thought I remembered from season 1 and which really make the show. When they played this carneval doors game and they got split apart... uff.

<mma1>

I also agree the guy whose boss got killed is cool and the recruiter at the beginning was a sight to behold.

The show also always has some minor annoyanes that are easier to forget. For instance, when they only have 5 minutes to finish a game, they keep wasting several seconds to celebrate or get mad? I know people are stupid and in such a crazy setting you would also sometimes behave stupidly, but that still seems insane to me.

Honestly something like it might indeed be true in Asia. Unless it's China I doubt it's early as brutal with so many deaths tho. China it wpuld be covered up easily but in places like Korea an Japan not so much.

I realize your comment was likely in jest but I really don't see a facsimile of it as that far fetched.
I remember also hearing there was some truth to how Japan treats dysfunctional high schoolers in Battle Royale. When you realise most of those kids would be drafted directly into crime and prostitution anway it makes sense.

I havent watched season 1 because it had been complely spoiled for me on tiktok before i even found out what it was. I am liking season but im ep 3 and it is much goofier than the first.

This season reminds me of Battle Royale 2 where it switched themes into some wannabe revolutionary into a war against the big system. A lot of 456 motivations make no sense and he went into the toughest enviroment with one hella porly thought out plan.

Season 2 wasnt bad but it was a part 1 season which takes from it. Should of been more focua on the brother of the Boss as there was like 3 episodes he wasn't even in after being made out like a main character in first 2 episodes. But they likely feature him in part 2.

The boat captain I saw coming after first minute he was on screen I knew he likely a Boss or maybe the Boss who took over for old guy.

I like that its ending after this (well there's likely spin offs) just would of liked them to of made it 1 season not split in 2.

Really enjoyed it but I hated that rapper guy. He was a horrible replacement for the gangster from season 1. I do like that the next season is the final one. This doesn't need some long drawn out 5 seasons. One more is good enough.
