Squats: Are they REALLY necessary?

Do I need the tatoos as well to get girls like that or just the bodyshape?

Tattoos, especially in a language you don't speak, help tremendously. Of course, having a svelte, hairless body only marginally larger than your woman is most important. A good guideline is that if you can fit in her jeans, you are on the right track.

This trend is strong where I'm at.

I wonder how many reps unlaced boots would add to my squat? I got to be careful though because squatting 300 will make my legs way to big to fit in skinny jeans.

Personally I've never had great success with them, and I tried extensively for a long time because of the "If you're not squatting you're not working out" mentality. Deadlifts have made me strong, stronger than I look I think. Lunges have been gold for me, addressing strength inbalances, improving my balance and flexibility and making me a lot more athletic.

I'd never suggest to anyone else that thety shoudn't do them though, I just know whats good for me.

Somewhere around here I mentioned the massive and long regression I took in trying adapt a wide stance squat and Eric suggested just going back to close.

Today I did the close stance for my main lift and then wide squat off a 16" box where I just break parallel but is much easier on my hips. This is likely to be the setup I stick to in my quest to have a new PR after eight years.

Hate to bump this, but it just may come in handy in your personal life...

He might just be holding his breath because of the smell.

They seem to help me, especially on long untras on tough mountainous terrain. You end up pretty crushed so having the extra strength seems to help. Climbing and decending in the dark on sketch trails...Ill take some strength.

I always lol at runners who don't lift. Im really surprised they are still around given the evidence. People look at me like Im out of place at ultra runs (6"4, 200-205), but Im usually crushing those skinny fat joggers, especially later in the races.

Bullshit.

You post on the internet so you probably couldn't even last 1 mile let alone an endurance run. I've met guys who have competed in Iron Man events. A couple of those are in the Royal Commando's here in Auatralia. They all tell me barbell lifts amount to jack shit when it comes to fitness.

Well, how can anyone possible argue with evidence-based research like yours? You should probably get this sort of thing peer-reviewed. Or maybe learn why athletes are not always the best people to ask about training and training science.

Fucking lulz.

Man that might make the most idiotic statement in the S&C for 2014.

Go fucking post somewhere else. None of us have time for your crap.

Spoons: Are they REALLY necessary?

I mean, you can eat soup with a fork and a straw. You can eat ice cream with a butterknife. There's plenty of ways to get around using a spoon.

Best analogy I've heard. I'm stealing it.

Using your logic:

You post on the internet so you probably couldn't even finish 1 week in basic, let alone have a military career. I've met guys who qualify weightlifting nationals. A couple of them belong under CANSOFCOM. They tell me all that running jazz won't help jack shit when it comes to the Cooper test
