Rumor: Spawn Nightwatch Might Appear in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Nightwatch-Spider-Man-Homecoming-Dragonlord.jpg

The latest of Spider-Man: Homecoming rumors is a really deep cut, even for the most committed Marvel fans, but it has some solid grounds for questioning. The character in question? Nightwatch.

If you haven't heard of Nightwatch, don't worry, you're not alone. The character only appeared in a small number of issues, but was able to get a small run of his own book. The series didn't last long, though, and that seemed to be due to his overwhelming similarities to the 90s comic phenomenon, Spawn.

It may seem odd for Nightwatch to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but the employees over at Sony have taken a sudden interest in the caped character.

According to the folks over at Bleeding Cool, Sony employees have started purchasing any Nightwatch comics they can get their hands on. For a character that hasn't appeared for over 20 years, this can't be a coincidence.

Bleeding Cool suggests that Bokeem Woodbine may be playing the character, despite reports that the actor will portray the villain, Shocker. Fan-favorite Donald Glover makes even more sense for the Nightwatch role.

Dude, who the fuck is that? Literally never heard of that guy, and I'm a Marvel guy at heart. Although Spawn was definitely my favorite Image antihero. A lot of people shit on that movie from the 90's, but I enjoyed it a lot. John Leguizamo killed it as the Clown.

After a quick google, not exactly true, he was in a couple of issues of She Hulk a couple of years back, http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/She-Hulk_Vol_3_11 + http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/She-Hulk_Vol_3_12 when the Nightwatch/Nighteater reformation gets looked into.

Tyron Woodley Reveals Why He Left SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Tyron-Woodley-Spider-Man-Homecoming-092716-Dragonlord.jpg

According to Tyron Woodley, the UFC fighter has said he’s no longer a part of Spider-Man: Homecoming. The athlete revealed the news during an interview with Jay & Dan for UFC on FOX. The three talked fighting before the topic of Spider-Man surfaced, and Tyron looked a bit hesitant to go in on the topic at first.

After all, fans learned that the UFC star was joining Homecoming after Tyron spilled the secret during an appearance on The MMA Hour. “I don’t know if I can even say this, but I’m working on a Marvel movie on Thursday in Atlanta,” he said.

And, apparently, he might have sold the secret too soon.

“This is what I said. I said that I could be working on a Marvel movie very soon, and I didn’t put two-and-two together,” Tyron explained. “I was in Atlanta, the only Marvel movie at that time was Spider-Man — I didn’t put those things together.”

The fighter then went on to reference Marvel Studios and their infamous legal team. Actors involved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe have gone so far as to describe the lawyers as a team of alert snipers - and that team was not happy to learn of Tyron’s tease.

“When you’re working on a Marvel movie, their legal department do not play. They got word of it, and their legal department started coming down on me,” he said.

However, Tyron said he ultimately backed out of the project to pursue other projects. “I did not do it because I had a previous obligation with Fox, and I thought that was a better play longterm. And I’m a man of my word.”

Tyron even went on to describe what his role was even though his details were vague. “I was going to play a villain in the movie,” he said, “and I think I was going to be fighting Spider-Man.”

He ducked Spiderman to fight Wonderboy? Lol.

I wonder if it's more of a dick move with the recent tweet from Todd MacFarlane about the Spawn movie.

But then Marvel hasn't historically done those kinds of things (unless you happen to be Fox)

The resemblance of that costume to classic Spawn is insane though. Hell, even the "living costume" and "alive" cape are rip-offs of Spawn's suit.

He had a "role" in the Maximum Carnage storyline and is really the only time I remembered him.

Who was first to exist? Spawn or Nightwatch?

Looks like Spawn debuted in May 1992. Nightwatch April 1993. Hmmmmmmm........

Why didn't Todd McDonalds sue him? Blatant ripoff of Spawn

I was looking into Nightwatch a bit, and read something about McFarlane possibly having created Nightwatch himself just before he left Marvel. If that were true then he ripped off his own character and made him much cooler. Don't know how much of that is true though. Nightwatch was probably so obscure McFarlane wasn't losing out on much money, if anything.

Rumor: New Antagonist Details and Key Character Cameo for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

2dhxyd2.jpg

SchmoesKnow.com reports that there will in fact be three different villains in Spider-Man: Homecoming; Vulture, Shocker and someone who will be more of an antagonist towards Peter Parker (instead of Spider-Man).

It’s already pretty clear, based on set photos leaked at the beginning of September that Bokeem Woodbine is playing Shocker in the film. So, that leaves either Michael Keaton or Marshall Green as The Vulture. The site says that whoever isn’t playing The Vulture will be playing the third antagonist in the film.

This third ‘villain’ is a non-super powered character who butts heads with Peter in his everyday life. He also may be the new someone Aunt May begins dating in the film, a guy that Peter does not approve of. Whether or not the guy is actually bad or its just Peter’s prejudices clouding his judgement remains to be seen. The site speculates that it will be a teacher who comes in, trying to fill in the father role he feels is lacking in Peter’s life.

The site also been told that there will be a surprise appearance from a character that is central to the Spider-Man mythos, one who will play a larger role in upcoming films. The site just can’t confirm who it is at this time.

Schmoes Exclusive: ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Villain Details Revealed

Not liking how there will be 3 villains. Already confirmed- Vulture, Shocker, The Tinkerer.

I would have went with a real legit Rhino and that's it. Maybe a villain behind the scenes helping Rhino with tech or something like Osborne. All and all, I think the studio should have went with a solid villain that's bad ass. Imo, Vulture is an old man with a bird suit-dull. Shocker and Tinkerer will be lesser villains not main. Imo

My Spidey sense tingles whenever I think about 3 villains.
And Pete doesn't need another major personal antagonist. He's got May, school, work, and girls to balance against his web slinging.
And that dude from Prometheus, who gets all the roles because people think he's Tom Hardy with full blown AIDS, SUCKS!

Me nether but they need something to move them away from the same old Osbourne routine, personally I would of like to see Kraven on the big screen

From the costume photos, I thought they already starting filming. How can they film when they haven't ironed out which villains are in the movie?

It's already ironed out but a lot of the details are kept hidden. It's the media sites that are receiving bits and pieces of scoops and reporting it back to us.
