btw, if it's good enough for Stan Lee, it's good enough for me. If Underoos wants to bang, I say let him bang.

Whether comic fans will acknowledge it or not, times are changing. Back when comics were first made a thing, the vast majority of comic consumers were white, and thus their characters were made to reflect them. It's now 2016, and many established characters are being changed to reflect the also changing demographics of the comic consumer population, and/or being changed to reflect the very diverse movie consumer population.

And before someone says "they should just make new characters with ____ ethnicity" here's the the thing, they do. All the time. But in order to put the most butts into seats when it comes to movies, producers need to go with established characters, and in order to gain the widest appeal, they need to change some of the majority characters into minorities. Like I've mentioned in the 'Berry in the past, movie producers first saw this a necessity when looking at the huge success of Fast and Furious franchise, which sports one of the most diverse casts of any franchise I can think of. It literally has a character for everyone. It has veritable mutts in Diesel and Rock, several whtie Americans, a couple African Americans, multiple Europeans from different countries, a white Latino, multiple mixed Latinos, an Asian, a Middle Easterner, etc., and what's even better is that every single one of them brings something to the table. Not a single character is just there as window dressing

btw, I'm sure all of these people up in arms about all of the racebending white characters into minorities didn't give a flying fuck when, for decades, minority characters were played by whites or were stereotypical joke caricatures of their demographic.

Also, I'm still waiting on my Asian Spiderman, but I'm still gonna watch this because Holland kills it as Underoos Spidey.

I have a problem with them doing it in the comics or when they pander arbitrarily.
IMO, the comics are sacrosanct. You don't put out a new version of The Adventures of Huck Finn with Huck being a transgender Muslim Korean just cuz.
I'm much more flexible with the movies, but for every black Baron Mordo they cast a white Ancient One. Makes no sense.
And in the comics they killed off Black Goliath and War Machine, lol, two of the very few original black heros.

My interest for this is about on par with the next Wolverine film.

On a side note I'm not standing for the national anthem. Blacks are so oppressed they get iconic movie roles. Fuck America

On one hand, I don't give a shit about the comics (most of my comic knowledge comes from all the cartoons I watched when I was a kid), but on the other hand, I can't help but notice the weird disconnect comic readers have from their perception of what goes on in comics to the reality. The "comics are sacrosanct" notion is just weird to me.

Which versions of which comics? There's so many different reboots, reworks, and retcons of damn near every popular series that I find the idea that "they shouldn't touch ____" ludicrous. It's literally been like this from the start. Racebending characters is the least of some of the things done.

As far as the movies go, I actually like a bit of racebending, as despite the changing of a couple of traditionally white characters to minority characters, there's still an overwhelming vast majority of white characters in nearly all series and movie franchises. A little diversity shakeup isn't the end of the world. It's not like they're going away. Now there's simply a 5:1 ratio instead of 10:1. The horror!

Well, if you don't give a shit about the comics then its almost impossible to convey the sentiment behind the issue. Tbh, I don't understand how folks don't get the gripe, even if some of them are kind of silly (like giving a shit about Mary Jane). Sure comics are always evolving (for numerous reasons), but outside of a plot device, they remain the same characters. Peter Parker is always going to be a white dude from Queens. T'Challa is always going to be an African Prince, and Diana Prince is always going to be an Amazon. You wouldn't expect people to blow it off if GRRM decided to write Tyrion Lannister as an Asian woman in the next installment of GoT and that series doesn't have half the history as Spiderman. I don't mind changing Captain America from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson, but I don't find Sam's story as compelling because he wasn't a WWII hero with decades of history supporting him. I'm not going to see a Sam Wilson Captain America movie. And as much as I hate seeing Asians getting such a raw deal, I'm not going to see a Chen Lu Spiderman movie, because Peter Parker is the compelling character that has driven that franchise for 50+ years.

I'm much more fluid with the movies. I obviously don't care about the MJ or Human Torch changes, but I'm bothered by the Mandarin and the Ancient One. My main issues with the movies is that, 11/10 they make changes that are inferior to the source material. My other gripe with the movies and comics, as I stated above, is how inconsistent they are with their "pandering". Don't change white characters to another race for diversity sake only to take another, traditionally ethnic, character and make him/her white, or kill off quality minority characters as a plot device. If diversity and attracting new, growing audiences is the purpose, then don't make it a zero sum game.

Jon Favreau to Reprise Happy Hogan Role for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Jon-Favreau-Spider-Man-Homecoming-Dragonlord.jpg

With Robert Downey Jr. already set to reprise his role of Tony Stark, Sony and Marvel are looking to add a familiar face from his Iron Man universe into their new Spider-Man realm.

Jon Favreau will reprise his role of Happy, Stark’s personal driver in the Iron Man movies, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, sources tell Variety.

The pic is currently shooting in Atlanta with Tom Holland starring as Peter Parker and Jon Watts directing. Other actors who have joined the cast over the last several weeks include Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, Zendaya and Tony Revolori.

Favreau played a large part in the Marvel cinematic universe, directing the first two Iron Man movies. He most recently helmed The Jungle Book live-action film for Disney, which has made more than $900 million worldwide and is currently developing a sequel. As an actor, he can be seen next opposite Vince Vaughn in Term Life.

Jon Favreau to Reprise ‘Iron Man’ Role in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ (Exclusive)

Comments: Jon Favreau's lame, corny, unfunny scenes in Iron Man 3 were cringeworthy. Hope they give him some good material this time.

Well, she's Asian, so obviously her character will be "math student" and nothing significant.
My only issue with her being somebody significant like Black Cat or Dr Octopus is the ridiculousness factor, even by comic book standards, of Peter going to H.S. with every character of his extended universe.
She could be Sha Shan Nguyen

Some people here are already predicting that this movie will fail based on the casting choices. I trust Kevin Feige and I think this will be one of the best Spidey films after it's all said and done. It'll be much better than ASM 1 and ASM 2 for sure.

I have those exact under amour sweats except mine actually fit

I like seeing more Ironman in this, it gives the movie an added layer of anticipation knowing it's rooted firmly in the MCU. They're doing an incredible job going from solo stories to more of the group dynamic based stories, I have faith they'll keep that up with this and Dr. Strange.

ASM 1 & 2 were soooo close to Amazing. I still like them both a lot.

How many damn people are going to be in this movie?

Shocker could be neat but im just worried it's so close to Electro in terms of recent movie entries the fans might feel sick of the electrical effect. Even though shocker has some awesome attributes. I'm hoping scorpion makes an appearance somewhere toward the end maybe.

Shocker doesn't use electricity though.

Powers and abilities[edit]
The Shocker wears a pair of gauntlets he designed with vibro-shock units known as "vibro-smashers" that, when activated by a pump-action thumb trigger, can project a concentrated blast of compressed air that vibrates at an intense frequency. This creates a series of rapid-succession high-pressure air blasts that result in a series of powerful impacts. This allows Shocker to both effectively throw long range vibrational punches from a distance, creating destructive vibrations that can crumble solid concrete and cause extensive damage to the human body and its internal organs, as well as throw shock waves which vibrate the structure of something in order to weaken or destroy it. A lesser known ability of the gaunlets allows Shocker to make incredible leaps, by directing the air blasts toward the ground in front of him. Holding the thumb triggers down for an extended period of time increases the intensity, speed, and even spread of the air blasts.

The feedback from the Shocker's gauntlets is extremely intense (the initial test almost killed him). To guard himself from this, he developed a protective costume consisting largely of yellow quilt patches designed to absorb the shock. The costume is made of foam-lined synthetic fabric which absorbs all vibrations and establishes a vibrational shield which deflects normal blows and allows him to slip from any grasp. The costume's appearance has been the source of ridicule on the part of Spider-Man and other characters. How fellow villain the Looter was able to once wield one of the gauntlets without wearing a protective costume and suffering injury is unclear, though his super strength and durability were presumably a factor. Despite having no superhuman abilities, his vibrating suit and gauntlets enable him to trade blows with Spider-Man.

Around the year 2000 (real time), Herman Schultz began upgrading the abilities of his costume and weapons. His suit now contains a number of built-in shock units, which throw up a protective vibrational field when triggered by accompanying motion detectors. Besides deflecting most physical blows, this makes it difficult, if not impossible for someone to physically assault or grasp him by surprise. This power upgrade was accompanied by a much bulkier and more protective looking costume (as designed by artist John Romita, Jr.).

He also recently allowed Hammer Industries to drastically upgrade the power of his gauntlets. However, not trusting to share the whole of his secrets (and thus become what he perceives as expendable), he refused Hammer's technicians access to his actual costume, which (at least at the time) likely wasn't providing him with thorough protection from the feedback of the upgraded gauntlets (he cited nosebleeds as a risk he was willing to take).

Shocker has since appeared repeatedly in his original costume and minus the redesigned super-gauntlets provided to him by Hammer Industries. Whether or not this means he has found a way to retain his upgraded abilities in his old costume or whether he no longer uses them remains in question.

Did you need to go on a semantic rant or could you just understand the point from the general audiences point of view? Hence, the fans might get sick of electrical effect, since they wont care for the semantic difference.
