PlayStation Spider-Man 2: Official Discussion

Some of you have terrible critical thinking skills. Better =/= good. To quote Brian Altano (who's one my favorite gaming personalities because he actually has a fucking opinion)

"Mary Jane’s stun gun was low key the most powerful thing in this game. Took down damn near every enemy with one hit while the Spider-Men had to use super powers to beat up on guys for ten minutes.

Imagine spending years training to become a henchman for Kraven the Hunter and mastering knife takedowns and survival skills in a remote jungle, only to have your whole crew get single-handedly destroyed by a work from home blogger with a taser. Absolutely wild."
You called it drizzling shit. I liked sneaking through and getting more intel. I like stealth games in general though.

Spider-Man and Miles can both perform stealth takedowns with one shot. Maybe Brian should pay more attention.

I mean if you want to take it to that level then none of these humans can handle Spiderman or Venom. Both can lifts multiple tons of weight. Am I supposed to believe that an extra large jacked human can block and counter spiderman in fights? None of them should be able to fight spiderman. A decent push should be sending all of them flying towards a wall and then webbed. It's not even a fair fight honestly. They should all go down EVEN faster than how the game portray is but then the game would be boring AF.

Also the tazer may be powerful but I believe the action sequence has her reaching out and tazing their neck, bypassing all armors/shielding. So they didn't nilly willy just make the tazer more powerful. She's attacking a weak spot up close and personal.
I dont disagree about the first part, I was thinking last night that it's weird that just because you're holding a baseball bat means you can block Spider-Mans attacks.

I think my problem with the MJ stuff has just as much to do with what's happening but how it feels to do it. It sucks. It's boring. The AI, which is already of questionable intelligence, seems to drop 100 IQ points. My main point is that the game goes from such a high of making you feel like Spider-Man to something that feels incredibly lame in comparison and completely unnecessary. I think anything in this game where you're not Spider-Man could just be a cutscene.

damn dude, tell us how you really feel
Sorry man, nothing personal, having a rough morning. Honestly I get tired of feeling gaslit anytime I have a negative critical opinion about a game I've otherwise been heaping tons of praise on.

The MJ sequences in the first game was gruelingly boring as hell but this one did it much much better. in one scenario when MJ had to find someone the map was large so there were multiple paths to take (or at least it felt like it) and it was fun to Tenchu my way around to the goal. I am with Dizzy and i love the stealth aspect (in this and all other games) so I didn't mind this at all. They did it right and there was even a portion where you had to disable multiple enemies in one room so you had to figure out the right sequence. Everytime I am given a choice of fighting or sneaking/webbing everyone I will choose sneaking/webbing everyone. It's fun figuring out how to do it. It's not hard by any means but its super enjoyable to me.

If you don't like the MJ part then you don't like it. It's all good.

.

And if you've only just realized this just now then you also have terrible critical thinking... ;)<45> LOL

Spiderman is an overpowering being. Even mechanized, reinforced armor shouldn't theoretically be able block/handle spiderman's strength/powers. Being able to stick anywhere and pull shit with superhuman strength along with spider senses/superfast reflexes makes him impossible to beat. The theory is that Spiderman holds back his strength and that's why he has to fight this way but that's BS logically speaking. He can attack from ANY angle/vantage point, target non-fatal body parts or weaknesses and quickly disable anyone with his abilities. He shouldn't be struggling at all.

You have to suspend some logic/belief to enjoy these games dude. MJ and her god-like tazer are one of the easiest one to believe.

I haven't played the game yet but this sounds ridiculous.
It isn't a regular stun gun, she's got a weapon Silver Sable's men were using to hunt super villains in the first game. She's only using it on regular henchman too

OH YEAH. She mentioned training with Silver Sable as well!! Forgot about that!

I didn't mind any MJ mission or puzzle in any of the games lmao

Ok that actually makes more sense. I didn't like the MJ missions in the first game but it wasn't like it ruined the experience.

Yeah, calling it a stun gun and saying she's using it on guys spiderman would take ten minutes to beat is definitely trying to make it seem different than it is. No regular henchman takes 10 minutes to beat unless you're terrible at the game lol

I'm done talking about it. If you guys enjoy it more power to you.

It's called hyperbole, if you can't see that then that would make sense. Fact remains she's taking people out like she's Solid fucking Snake faster than Spiderman can.

No she's not lol Spider-man can take people within a split second. Stealth takedowns, webbing people to walls, any of the gadgets he has, pulling pipes down on people, etc. She has a silver sable gun that she can sometimes use if she has the right opportunity.

Story done! Few nitpicks for me but overall enjoyed it, just clearing stuff up now
How many hours did it take you? I'm 28 hours in atm and feel like I'm maybe coming up to the end

Just got the Anti Venom suit

Got a couple of

Symbiote nests and experiments

left to do then I'm done with the game

Man some of these boss fights are intense... Like really intense....

At times I am getting my ass handed to me but once i am a bit familiar with the pattern and adjust it becomes do-able.

Unless encountered my first major bug. During one of the boss fight the audio cutted out completely. Only sounds i heard were from my controller which made it a bit odd. I was mid-way through beating the boss so i forged on, finished it then once i reached a point i could save i did and quit t the game. sound game back but that was a bit annoying. i wanted to hear that shit.
