South Carolina executed a guy today with a firing squad

My best guess is that it was a poor shot(s). That round would make the heart look like a mound of jelly if the shot was placed right.

What do you think 3 of those rounds simultaneously to the heart would do? Because that is what they did. Pretty sure even the poorest of shots isn't going to matter in that case, he was done instantly.

There is always one with a blank thus absolving the shooters of any guilt. God forbid they feel bad. It was a bad kill, 100%. I've had a bad kill with a deer. Animals fighting for their lives is never pretty, no matter how much we try to sanitize it.

Always felt like if you're going to shoot a man, you should atleast give them the courtesy of looking them right in the eyes. However, it seems most firing squads had atleast 1 person randomly fire a blank so no one would know if they actually fired the killing shot or not. Made it "easier" on their conscience. Personally though I don't feel like taking a life should ever be made easy on the executioner, even when it's the life of a complete bastard.
Well it sounds like the sherdog crowd wouldn't mind just rolling off the couch and volunteer to kill a piece of trash

So he killed them i 2001ish?
spent +20 years in prison, and then gets executed.
Waste of tax monies. Doge need to get in on this.
People should be executed with in a year.... we gotta be efficient here people.

It seems like it falls under duties of the state just fine to me.

I don't have a problem with the worst of the worst getting removed.

I do think that in order to be sentenced to death there should be no doubt however in the conviction. If there's any room for doubt it should just be life sentence.
Agreed, guilty beyond all doubt needs to be the standard. And no way should it take 24 years to get it done.

This chap admitted it. Assume he was sorry but didn’t seem to try to get out of it. No need for a long hold up.

See, that's it. "Beyond a doubt". The state should not have sway on a man's life.

He was in state prison and not federal prison, dummy 😂

This should be the standard method. Its a lot cheaper for 3 bullets then lethal injection.

I put my sweet "Scoots" down a few months ago. Retired vet. Him and his wife came to my house. One shot of ketamine. One shot of pentobarbital. It was vials in his bag. Asked for $50 I gave him $200.
