Social SOTU - 2/24 PBP

The problem is, even if Trump says that his supporters are stupid and that he would prefer to cancel voting and start a dictatorship - nothing will happen.

You know how I know this? Because he already said all of those things.

You have created an incredible fantasy world in your head.

  • Canceling Elections: In January 2026, Trump told House Republicans that "they should cancel the election" because his opponents have the "worst policy".
  • "Sometimes You Need a Dictator": While speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026, he remarked, "Usually they say 'he's a horrible dictator-type person,' I'm a dictator. But sometimes you need a dictator!".
  • "You Won’t Have to Vote Again": During the 2024 campaign, Trump told Christian supporters that if they voted for him once more, "in four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote".

Would you believe it if I showed you evidence or will you just call it AI and TDS?

Well, based on the facts we have seen I'd argue the Democrats would more willingly cancel elections.

1) He was already president once. He didn't cancel elections or become a dictator when he had a chance.

2) Democrats decided to have a soft coup on Biden, decided to skip a PRIMARY ELECTION, and just installed her as the candidate.

But if you've got evidence that supports your claim that Republicans would willingly skip elections and accept Trump as dictator, which you claimed - please present that evidence!

I'm betting you will present statements about the 2026 mid-terms, which coincidentally have nothing to do with the presidents tenure. Or his statement about "being a dictator on day 1" which has not happened either time. Or perhaps you will reference his comments on standardizing elections across the states to combat historical inefficiencies and widespread fraud. Again, has not happened.

I didn't vote for Trump and have been highly critical of him. But you guys seem to make up all kinds of fearmongering fantasy scenarios. Remember 2016 when the LGBT communities were mobilizing and convinced he was going to round them up into concentration camps!

I wasn't talking about republicans.

I said that Trump said:
1. His followers are stupid (the ones who want clarity on Epstein)
2. Elections should be cancelled (midterms)
3. "Sometimes you need a dictator", implying he's ready to be one.

He said all these things. Sources in my post above.

And funny how you think I am a us Democrat when I don't even live in the USA.

I am curious about what criticism of Trump you have though. So far nobody from the right has responded to me when I asked what they don't like about Trump.

Oh, that's easy.

1) lack of transparency regarding Epstein files
2) Complete mishandling and deployment of ICE officers going after non violent illegal immigrants/undocumented workers. (complete misuse of resources imo and squandering support from the Hispanic voting base
3) pardoning of Binance CEO Changpeng "CZ" Zhao. and then continuing a financial/business relationship with him. (clear conflict of interest here)
4) Petty name calling of journalists who ask perfectly legitimate questions
5) failing to deliver on peace in Russia/Ukraine. (this was/is a continued difficult endeavor and him saying he'll end it in the first day in office was ridiculous
6) using hyperbolic comments like, "this is the best economy we have ever had...we have lowest grocery prices ever..."
7) as much I despise the democrat party, He has inflamed the partisan divide. This country is the most divided I have ever seen.
8) How he handled the election/January 6th

there are many more, but this is just off the top of my head.

Thank you for this.
And seeing all these problems you continue to support Trump? Why?

I campaigned for Howard Dean, and then reluctantly for John Kerry back in the 2004 election, and then again for Obama's first term.

I don't necessarily "support" Trump. I did vote for him over Hillary Clinton, and then voted 3rd party the last two elections. Proverbial gun to my head, had I HAD to choose him or Kamala, I would have supported Trump.

When it comes down to it, The Democrat party is not the same party it was when I was growing up. Their vision for this country and the ideas they espouse I believe are more dangerous, destructive to this country and its founding ideals than Trumps (imo).

The Democrat party descended into madness with the progressive movement. If they had nipped that in the bud, Trump wouldn’t even be the president today.

Appreciate the reply.
How nice to have a civil conversation for a change. :)
