Somewhat surprisingly, Izzy doesn't have much dog in him does he?

To be fair he's taken punishment in fights like the Kev match and won.

Personally I think Izzy not taking the 3rd Alex fight and then not rematching Stickland has probably not been good for his mental state, when you start to duck matches thats got to have an impact on motivation and heart.

I thought this as well. I thought izzy tapped really quick and I hate to say fighters give up, but in real time I didn't think the choke was super tight but I would have to watch again
It was sunk in with a fully locked gable grip. He either could have tapped or went to sleep at that point.

Guy on the under card (Filipino dude) had a choke sunk in deep and his eyes rolling back in his head, but was still trying to hand fight and turn his head to relieve the pressure. And barely got out. Nobody would have held it against him if he'd tapped there. Izzy didn't even try, just yep you got me I'll tap. Maybe he wouldn't have escaped, but he definitely seemed more worried about going to sleep than becoming champion again.
Some guys have different squeeze than others lol. DDP is a fucking tank.

Do you give the same shit to Whitakker who cowered into a ball instead of fighting back?? Jesus when the other fighter has you he has you. Anyone who has fought Pereira 4 times after being stopped 2 times and getting 1 back is a tough mf.

Bizarrely, he never repated what he showed against Gastelum.

Like Conor/Khabib, 2 complicated build ups, 2 neck crank taps lol

this is total bullshit of course.
izzy has been in many wars and has been hit alot and hard in the face body and legs. in mma and kickboxing. or are we forgetting his fight with kelvin gastellum??

i'm not sure but I think Izzy doesnt have the will to compete anymore. he quit mma and came back but it's not the same. you get out and come back, it will take away. cejudo can confirm. it has nothing to do with izzi being able to take damage and have that dog in him to continue. he has done this many times before

Dricus went Fedor on Izzy's throat with the palm to palm. I don't blame him.

Like I've said in a few threads.. how much do you guys think Izzy drills submission escape? How many times do you think he's had a tight choke in to try to fight off?

I'd bet way less than most UFC fighters... because he has been so effective with his TDD and can get back up when he is taken down.

Lol at the serious responses to an Izzy thread with the word 'dog' in the title

I watched Izzy's post fight presser, and I thought he came off as one of the most real dudes out there. Offered a tiny excuse by saying he slipped, but otherwise kept it pretty real.

I'll be rooting for him next time around. And honestly I don't give a fuck if he touches his dog inappropriately, as long as the dog doesn't mind.
Lmao gross

Izzy is no pussy, but people change as they age. He isn't the same guy that fought Gastelum 5 years ago. He was 30, now he's 35 and a lot has happened in that time frame.

Izzy does not have dog in him
But dog has Izzy in him

The thing with RNC's is some are more of a constriction where you slowly cut off blood and you can fight that off or there are the other ones where they are pulling their bone through your throat. The 2nd one is why guys tap immediately, after you get an angle on someone's throat it's extremely painful. DDP is a strong guy, I'm sure it just feels like your throat is being crushed.

Why didn't Izy use his kicks more

Are his legs bad?
I assume he was worried about the pretty much guaranteed threat that a big strong guy like dricus was going to be looking for the take down on him. So he only threw them sporadically so dricus couldn't time them as easy for a shot entry or catching the kick

The choke was really deep. No way to escape and it was hitting the air pipe which could get shattered with prolonged pressure. Very painful stuff

Dude is 35yo, chin and timing are the first things to go... he's lost a bit of both.

30yo Izzy would have blasted DDP as he charged in, fight would have looked like Forest vs. Anderson--complete mismatch.
