Sometimes UFC does pay more than boxing.... sometimes, I honestly feel sorry for these guys

No, it's because half the card on ESPN Friday night fights make less than $1000

yeah, and that half are going home to get ready for the night shift after they get "knocked out" by the next 19 yr old 34-0 hype job.

it's not like those guys are full time fighters actively pursuing a real career.

what's the cut off point? I feel like ive seen some new fighters getting 12/12 for a long time now, but im also still seeing others getting 10/10.

Don't know
I know it went up to 12/12
I think the TUF fighters got $10k because they are not signed officially to UFC when they did the bout agreement.
Most of those that lost on the finale might not be in UFC going forward

But if a fighter signed a 5 fight deal at $10/10, they might have to run that out.

The very elite boxers make more but you start going down the card is the ufc is very comparable.

i agree i am just more in shock that a champion is getting paid less than $20,000 and the challenger less than $10,000. Like who even bothers fighting at that point anymore
The term champion doesn't mean much in boxing anymore. Almost everyone has a belt now. They have way too many titles and classes. You can get a belt by just being decent.

boxing is a more dangerous sport all direct heavy head and body trauma all the time they better be getting paid the f out
They can't. There are too many that will do it for free or next to nothing. Fight sports attract certain types of people, not always those that aren't impulsive, reckless, and business savvy.

VERY rarely does the UFC pay better than boxing. lol
Very often the UFC pays better than boxing.

The bottom guys on boxing cards frequently get $1k - $2k. The UFC has been paying $10k minimum for a long while now, and the winners get another $10k. The real big-name boxers make way more than the top earning MMA fighters. But plenty of big name MMA fighters can make serious money, Overeem made $2.4m in one year and was never the champ.

That base pay is still rubbish, of course. A much better structure would be to pay a higher base pay and a lower win payout (maybe $20k fight and $5k win). New fighters still have a big incentive to win and be exciting because otherwise they’ll be dropped, and $5k bonus is worth fighting for. But at least they’ll make enough money win or lose to make it worthwhile, whilst not costing the UFC too much more.

WBA has like 3 champs for each weightclass.

They’re titlists, not champs these days.

Thats the reality of combat sports. MMA, boxing, kickboxing, muay thai.. they all make little money, except for the really top guys who can earn huge amounts. But the majority do not.

I know a pro boxer here, he is 26-7 and 1 NC, and he does not make much at all, he also has another job working in retail. I have been to his house many times, he has a very modest house and lifestyle. I can assure you its not UFC who only pay little, boxing is the same, except if you are a top guy like Floyd and Joshua etc

boxing money ... too many factors.

low/mid (it depends) was always shit in boxing.

as mma fighter you have other high costs (camps etc.) .. do the math.

The UFC is an organization with around 500 fighters whereas there are something like 25,000 professional boxers, so you can't really compare. But once you get to certain level in boxing then the payouts massively out strip the UFC, where the highest purse was $3 million for a PPV that did 1.6 million buys. As a percentage pay out, UFC fighters definitely get short changed compared to boxers.

UFC isn't a sport. Boxing is an entire sport. There are MMA champions getting paid 4 figures a fight, possibly less.

werdum (i think he was the champon) made 150-250.000 and klitschko 20-30 millions lol

Either way, the fighters (boxers or MMA fighters) enter into a mutual contract. They know what they are getting paid in advance. If they don’t like it, they don’t have to fight
Not familiar with a purse bid are you?

Two fighters made over $10m each for that card
You cannot go by AC reports

If you did the % would be maybe 5% if that high, where UFC pays 17% (2016 filings)
