Crime Someone tried to assassinate Donald Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania

I mean it's literally Monday morning and you're trying to throw the entire secret service under the bus without any actual info other than what's been reported in piece meal by dozens of media sources/

There's literally thousands of considerations when you're talking about such a complex level of security and proper investigation into what went wrong and who is in fault has hardly even started.

The secret service are literally the reason Trump is still alive, the local police failed to adequately screen the area and when alerted to the suspicious individual on the roof, they failed to engage with him and allowed him to take shots at the former President.
Where did I throw the entire SS under the bus? I understand the SS collaborates with local law enforcement for events such as this and must rely on their local expertise for obvious threats. I don't know who failed to designate that location as closed/off-limits.

You say there are literally thousands of considerations . . . I'm asking how the building used to shoot from wasn't included in those considerations.

I've acknowledged that the SS is why Trump is still alive.

I'm saying the guy should've never had the opportunity to take shots at Trump. Someone failed to do their job properly and the ultimate responsibility for that lies with the SS whether it was a local police officer or some other official.

Well, let's present my position accurately.

The first thing I did is make several posts about how absolutely disgusting his act was and how there is absolutely no place whatsoever for it in this country and that no good could possibly come from violent actions.

But then I was shocked to see right-wingers immediately start to blame the left for what happened and specifically to blame mean words for what happened and then obviously that would sound profoundly hypocritical considering what you guys have been saying for the last few years in defense of Trumps absolutely terrible public rhetoric and that from the bully pulpit.

If you condemn our words about mean words as being harmful then in principle, you must all condemn Trump.

The inevitable result here is for us all to return to what the left has been arguing for all along which is civility, kindness and dignity--- but you guys called us pussies for that.
Holy crap.

So is this hissyfit I hear about Biden’s “bullseye” comment.
Sure, but we all know what the media would be doing with it if roles were reversed. And we also know that you would be dishonestly clutching your pearls right along with them, while you called for Trump to be charged with inciting violence.

Looks like we're back to the usual Sherdog standards of about half of the posts in a thread being partisan hacks deliberately derailing the thread and people responding to them.

edit - to clarify i meant this is how I see everyone arguing, not saying you in particular

Not for nothing, but MAGA and actual Republicans have ALWAYS been at odds in terms of ideology and practice. The trad Republicans have just capitulated more or less.

The motivation for this guy is not some fucking mystery.

Wonder if this changes Trump. Imagine that guy coming out all "born again" n' shit, and preaching love and happiness for all?

I've known some sharks in business who have been touched by their own mortality later in life. They're never the same afterwards.

Trump did an interview yesterday, said he tore up the speech he had ready for the RNC convention, and is going to a completely new one focused on uniting the country, rather than beating democrats and Biden, the worst president in history.

Here is the article

Hopefully he rises to the occasion, with all eyes on him. Makes me want to circle back to this clip though, and Van Jones trying to counter Scott Jennings (who has been great on CNN thus far)... but Trump's rhetoric is literally responding to the derranged left and all their lies. He did not start the rhetoric. They did, with all their hoaxes, taking things he says completely out of context, to create this very division. Van Jones being one of the bigger people guilty of that.

Somehow it always comes back to DEI

Pretty relevant when the new head of the SS is a DEI hire herself, who is on tape saying they need to hire more women. And then we have pictures and videos of this weekend's events that show women fucking up.

You understand now why people are mentioning this DEI crap? Because DEI just quite literally almost got a presidential candidate killed.

This is the point I’m also trying to make.

Political tensions haven’t been this high in a very, very long time. I think it would be great for both sides to have a discussion on how our collective rhetoric has inflamed tensions, lead to violence, and should be toned down.

But as far as I can tell, that’s not the conversation the Right wants to have. No, it’s “libs need to do some soul searching, but we aren’t going to change anything.”

You somehow want the right to share some of the blame of the radical left attempting to assassinate Trump. Yeah sorry not happening. Nearly a decade of liberal news and ther rubes squealing about evil big bad orange Hitler.

This is at your feet.

Ahhh... Are you suggesting a 20 year masterminded a stealthy infiltration through almost impenetrable security? That Secret Service had the area completely locked down?

Somehow the kid pulled an Ocean 11, scrupulously detailed the area in advance, identifying possible weak points?

Nah... couldn't have been gross incompetence

hahahahaha.... your trolling is top notch

The secret service aren't the ones manning screening checkpoints, it would be local police for a venue like this in the middle of bumfuck PA.

So yeah, the kid got lucky getting passed local security and was able to get on the roof, but was detected doing so. It wasn't till local police tried to investigate did he start shooting.

The only way anything changes if is you can change the fundamental image each political group has of their rivals. The media will not allow that because strife drives the news more than Kumbya. Big Business will not allow that because strife among the peasants keeps them from organizing, storming the castle dragging out the royals and beheading them. Political power players will not allow it because political and ideological strife keeps their foot troops coming to the voting booths.

Have you read the transcript of what the agents were saying while they were piling on Trump?

Female agent:

"What are we doing. What are we doing. What are we doing?"
