News Someone blew up the Georgia Guidestones

Do you realize that the current economy relies on the population increasing to keep going. It requires more people to buy more things

The stock market does. If we're talking sustainability then population control is a viable solution

The local news is saying the culprit faces a minimum of 20 years in prison if/when caught. That seems a bit extreme.

$500k I believe it was, according to the History channel show about it. This link also says half a mil. https://crimereads.com/the-georgia-guidestones-americas-stonehenge-historys-unsolved-mystery/

Thank you for that link. I'm wondering how the land was transferred from the original owner without the new owners name then transferred to the County. It seems that there should be something on the deed. I know on the land I'm on, the title contains the names of all of the owners from the time it was originally filed until the present.

I was wondering if the statement of keeping the population under 500,000,000 was a mistake and should have been 5,000,000,000. In 1980 the population of Earth was 4,500,000,000 so a warning to maintain it under 5 billion would have made more sense.

Destroying government property with a bomb is discouraged.

All of the current economy relies on population growth. Not many new houses would be needed if there aren't more people so anyone involved with building housing or supplying goods to build and furnish new homes will find their incomes curtailed. That filters it's way down to all phases of the economy. Almost every facet of the economy depends on more people buying more goods to grow.

I agree and that's the predicament we're in. I'm not advocating for pop control today. I'm not a greenie weenie but I acknowledge that we are depleting resources faster than they can be replenished and some are just finite.

Someday....could be 1000 years from now we may have to face serious reduction in consumption. Imo that challenge would be much easier to face with less people rather than heavy rationing.

Sort of old news by now but I just heard about this whole thing and found it interesting. Apparently the guy behind the stones has allegedly been discovered. He was a supporter of eugenics and a white supremacist. Not surprising.

Yeah the eugenics and race stuff had a long history going back to well before the French Revolution. It's was popularized with Darwinism and the X club and Fabian socialism and the like. Former librarian of congress James H. Billington did some great work covering the history of this stuff back in the 80s. It's fascinating imo.

Whoever wrote that was definitely unemployed

Maybe we should reconsider the merits of the Guidestones. Wise Yoko Ono has deemed them a stimulus to rational thinking.
