Hey guys!
UFC 225 was so awesome. My friend's cousin from out of town was over and we watched the fight. She's a "filthy casual" (heh heh) and I'm trying to get her into UFC so when she moves here we can watch fights together.
So an interesting thing. Colby won the fight like I knew he would and I enjoyed it but I wonder how much appeal he is going to have. My friend's cousin said that he looks too pretty to be a fighter and that he looks like he is "stalling" and avoiding having to fight. She said it was a boring fight at the end of it and that she probably doesn't want to watch him fight again.
So this brings up an interesting question. If a young girl doesn't want to watch a pretty boy fight and thinks he is boring, how is Colby going to get Conor's level of PPV buys, etc. It seems most of his "fans" are actually haters.
Also, the main even was so awesome. Everytime Yoel would do his spinning back fist, everyone gasped in excitement. Everyone was waiting for the KO punch from Yoel and it almost came! TWICE! it was crazy how Robert survived and ended up wining. My friend's cousin said that she thinks that Yoel won easily and it was a no contest because he was winning a lot in the end.
But I beg to differ. Yoel conserved his energy in the first rounds while Robert was fighting. So if you reward people who lag and stall in the earlier rounds, then every championship or 5 round fight will be 4 rounds of stalling and 1 final round of crazy fighting. Robert's earlier aggression and attacks need to be rewarded and I think the proper decision was made at the end. Robert deserved it. He made weight and fought with a broken thumb against an obviously much bigger fighter.
Also when I was dropping my friend's cousin off at LAX, we were talking about the fights and she said Yoel Romero had the most ridiculous body she's ever seen and it seemed like she was into it (if you know what I mean). I did a bunch of sit ups this morning and I'm going to try to get shredded before she comes back later in the summer lol. How many situps a day should I do? I can do like 30 before It starts to hurt real bad. How many situps do you think Yoel Romero can do?
