“But jeez, I gotta give it to Lesnar for accepting the fight. First you gotta step into the cage, and then I’ll give the guy all the credit in the world just for being man enough to let that door close behind him.”

“Oh my God, why? Why?!?” Frye said when asked what his reaction to Brock’s fight at UFC 200 was. “Mark Hunt is going to destroy him. It’s going to be such a fun fight to watch Mark kick his head off. So I’m looking forward to it.” “Mark’s an animal. Yeah he’s an animal. I mean, goddamn, he’s one of the better fighters walking the planet. You know and he’s got the strength and the speed and the skill, and s**t, he’s like ten-foot-tall and bullet proof.”

“I thought they were going to give him some fish,” Don continued. “Who’s that pro wrestler that keeps bailing out of his fight all the time? Yeah, I mean, give him CM Punk (laughs) or somebody worse than that.”

There's quite a few Sherdoggers and MMA fans who dismiss and discredit Lesnar and say that it's only his size and pre-UFC fame that won him fights. What a joke. If Lesnar had not been famous prior to entering the UFC he would have merely been a beast, freak athlete, with an incredible 106-3 collegiate wrestling record and NCAA wrestling champion. That alone would have been formidable for any opponent. Add that with his rare speed for someone his size and granite chin (he doesn't react well to being hit but has a great chin) and you've got a truly dangerous opponent, if he could improve his reaction to being hit he'd be damn near unstoppable even with his limited striking ability, his wrestling and ground game would be too much for any current UFC fighter (yes, even Werdum I'd bet).

Lesnar never turned down a fight. He never asked for certain opponents, and he always faced top competition. People talk shit about Couture, Mir, Herring, and Carwin but Couture was the champ at the time, who else was he supposed to fight? Mir was a BJJ expert who had broken people's limbs in the Octagon and would want to be taken down by Lesnar, Herring was a tough veteran from Pride, and Carwin was a monster striker who had finished EVERY SINGLE ONE of his opponents in brutal fashion with strikes or submissions up until the Lesnar fight.

Lesnar won and defended the UFC HW belt for the most times in UFC history, tying other fighters like Cain and Couture. And Cain fought the same 2 fighters for 5 fights, nearly 3 years of fighting and one of them was a Bigfoot Silva of all people. Werdum, whom some consider the best HW ever since defeating a declining Fedor, couldn't defend the belt 1 time. Yet, Werdum is somehow a GOAT while Lesnar isn't even a 'fighter'. What a joke.

Say what you want about Lesnar, but he's one of the best HW champs the UFC has ever had.
Don Frye acknowledges it. Even if some hater Sherdoggers don't.

LOL Your point is? You gotta learn to not let sherdog opinions get you in your fits man. Hes a fighter thats that.

That's because a lot of sherdoggers (and MMA fans in general) are quite unintelligent.

Pretty weird thread to make considering the next thing Don Frye said was that Brock is going to get fucking demolished in hilarious fashion

I'll never discount an NCAA D1 Champion, UFC HW Champion... but that said, it's just highly unlikely that a guy with 4+ years of no competition comes back with a quick half-assed camp, and beats a top contender with an active competition schedule.

Fight's a fight though, anything can happen.

He's huge. He's a great wrestler. He also has terrible stand up and turtles with the quickness.

That being said, anybody who steps into a locked cage to fight is a "fighter". 90% of people would never do that.

Not that Lesnar doesn't deserve more credit, but Frye always sounds like a traditional, tough guy, this-generation-sucks type of old coot. I wouldn't care for his opinion on the matter either way.

Sherdog is 95% bandwagoners and idiots. Most dont even know they're in this number. Including you TS cause Frye says Brock is gonna lose afterwards.

must have something to do with him representing Canada now..

Pretty sure he's been planning this and with all his extra supps, I bet he's high on the horse

Seriously, how fucking weird is this? If Bork was JUST coming off of his losses to Cain and Reem, would people give him this much of a chance? He hasn't fought since 2011

People are just assuming he'll return to top form for some reason.

I literally have not seen a single person dismiss a fighter that became champion. And then successfully defended his/her belt.

I don't even know what mindset you're on about.

That's interesting. Don used to talk tons of shit about Brock.

"You know [Hunt's] got the strength and the speed and the skill, and s**t, he’s like ten-foot-tall and bullet proof.”

Mark is 10-foot-tall? lolwut. If you weren't going to be hyperbolic about Mark's height, you'd exaggerate about how short he is, not how tall. "Mark Hunt, wow, what an amazing fighter! The dude's only like 5'5" but he STILL KOs all these monsters!"

I actually think this is the one positive for Brock, I do think the time off will have helped him physically. He needed to recover. His body has had time over the years now to settle into missing a chunk of its intestines, lol. I think he's probably healthier now than he was back then.

That said, the lack of real MMA training or any competition whatsoever during that time, more than makes up for that on the negative side. Especially since Hunto has been basically been doing the opposite, fighting regularly.

a part of me hopes he is super roided to make it challenging.

Odds are against Lesnar but I just think Lesnar will get Hunt to the ground and finish him.

He still does, read the very next paragraph lol

Truly bizarre thread

Haha...well, it's definitely tempered compared to the olden days. I'm the same way. Think he's gunna lose but respect him more for coming back to fight a legit top guy than I used to.
