How long can GSP's speed/power/athletism last? I know randy is still hanging in there but its not because of those things, its cause of his skill/experience/intelligence/gameplanning.

I mean what age do you guys see these things running out?

dood hes gonna get stronger and fitter and more athletic at least till hes 30 or 35. its gonna last a looong wehile

He has natural talent, it will take alot of years to loss that, he will only get better in the next decade, damn exciting to watch him fight though!

dude....there are tons of fighters around gsps age who are nowhere near to his athleticism....hes like that cause he works hard, dont try to take it away from him

stronger maybe
but he will slow down by 30, speed and reaction is the first thing to go with age. Ask any boxer.

Well, then, I guess he'll just kick people's asses until he turns 30, and then he'll be a piece of shit.

He is very gifted. He'll get better and better but may stop doing back flips around the age of 30.

10-15 years ago everyone would have said 30. now it seems many people arent even reaching their prime until after 30. it is going to probably come down to how much punishment his body takes, and how much he takes care of himself. i dont think anyone should be thinking about how long GSP has left, he is very young and has not reached his potential

thats cuz boxers get hit in the head a whoooole lot more. dependin on how often he gets hit , his reflexes may go downhill by 30 , but physiologically he should still be gettin stronger and faster till at least 30 , if not 35 .

getting hit does not have anything to do with this topic. Burning out is something unrelated.

how the fuck you can get faster if your reflexes slow down? Both speed and endurance go down with age. You can compensate it with experience, skills, drugs and modified training, but raw physical ability start to decline after first 25 years on average (check hg and test level drop between 25 and 30 for example) . Its a natural process and its a fact.

Strength is easiest to maintain and many athlets in olympic weighlifting and powerlifting show great progress up to their 40s. We do not hear about (m)any runners or swimmers breaking world records @ the same age, ever wonder why?.

this just added to my headache

though posting that kinda evened it out

Thats not true for sports like wrestling (and I'm assuming) Judo. Wrestlers usually peak in their late 20's and early 30's. The sport is so complex, and requires so much strategy that maturity and poise in competition are actually more important than speed or strength.
Also "man strength" plays a role. People continue to get stronger well into their 30's.

I think its the same for any one on one combat sports, including MMA.
