The weight cutting threads got me thinking about a way around it. Its obviously not optimal for performance to cut 20+ pounds of water the day before a fights. So here is my system:

Measure the length of the torso from belly button to the chin.

Measure the circumference of the chest.

Measure the length of the arm.

Measure the circumference of the bicep.

Measure the circumference of the neck.

Measure the circumference of the thigh.

Add all the measurements together have divisions based on the total of the measurements. For example a 100 inch division and so on.

I know it sounds crazy, but would it accomplish the goal of grouping similar sized fighters into a division? Obviously we may have to fine tune the measurements taken incase it favors tall skinny guys or short stocky guys too much.

Or we could just measure dicks. No fights needed, and p4p wouldn't even be a topic.

Sounds great. Wouldn't you say that instead of adding all the measurements together as it is , it would be a good idea to apply weightage first? For instance a big difference in thigh circumference can easily be pipped by the length of the arm. Which does not make much sense.

i tried to measure the stupidity of this idea but it was off the charts. SHW div.

No need to change a damn thing. If you think weigh cutting is unfair then just CUT to a smaller weight class yourself and stop complaining

Only real solution is to weigh in an hour before the fight or a similar close time frame. This would get rid of weight cutting all together.

The only real problem would be when someone is overweight and can't make the fight. Only giving the other fighters a one hour notice.

its not fairness issue it an issue of giving the athletes the ability to deliver the best performance they possibly can which means not dehydrating drastically right before a fight.

Dodson does just fine cutting just over 25lbs. plenty of fighters do. He's only 5'3" He could fight in bantam weight as well and be at a height disadvantage, but he does just fine and has plenty of cardio and power at 125.

whats next, you gonna make sure they get 8 hours of sleep per day? or get nuff vitamins in their diets?

obviously it would need to be fine tuned by someone smarter than me

This. IMO it should be up to the fighters how much weight they cut. If they want to cut weight to the point it hinders their performance or fight without cutting weight and risk getting outmuscled, it is up to them.

Dear TS
Abuse of THC is damaging your brain
Just slow down for a couple of days
You

Put the scale right in front of the athletic commission guy that checks for a mouthguard and cup.

You step on the scale, get Vaseline smeared on your forehead and into the cage you go.

And then when the guy misses weight the fight gets cancelled and everyone that bought the PPV is pissed off.

The a fighter misses weight, the fight is off, and shit goes down. Horrible idea. There is a reason weigh ins are the day before.

Thats stupid. Of weight cutting is an issue make the weigh ins the morning of the fights.

Adding all the size inches together, was thinking someone like Sherk would get paired against Anderson lol

Damn TS, weigh ins or measure ins would take 3 days
