Economy Solar power now less expensive and more reliable than fossil fuels

That must be why solar is booming...good talk..
Sheeps.

Solar energy is known for "planned obsolescence". Your hardware will never last 20 years. Cheap brands that do not generate a lot of energy, cost of maintenance, bringing a mecano twice every 5/7 years, winter cold weather in most areas where there is no sun, most roofs need a restoration on their own for solar to be deployed. Tons of scams in europe were made by promoting solar energy.

Without a solid installation, and not some cheap junk, it is just not worth it, and even if the installation is sophisticated, it is not worth it, in cold area. It is just green propaganda, and people are falling for it.

Transexualism is blooming, that does not mean that it is a good thing.

A true story, a guy in europe, took a loan for solar infrastructure, he lost 50K euros. He wanted to sell his house, and added 20K euros, the buyer asked why, he said, because I have solar infrastructure, the buyer said your are still paying eletricity bills, and the sky is always grey here, I'm not gonna buy the house with an additional fee for junk I don't need.

What happened, a few months ago, a break-down occured, and the solar infrastructure ceased to work. Cheap brands are not to be recommanded. He made a phone call to the brand, they told him, a lot of people are in the wait list for that piece of equipment that you need to replace, he waited two months.

When you will repair your roof, due to rain, or snow, or to bad weather, you would need to remove the solar infrastructure, and put them in the attic, renovate your roof, and then put them back ?

Fuck solar energy.

I don't want to go in more details. But beware scams.

I was the warehouse manager for one of the biggest solar companies in the US about 10 years ago. A lot of the customers were lied to by the salesmen about the efficiency, generation, and longevity to make a sale, but since we pocketed the rebates and we made so much on the installs, they could be shut up with a small settlement payment or a few extra panels.

It was a soul crushing job that I ended up quitting for a number of reasons and they have since went out of business. They have lawsuits against them for shady behavior.

It was my brother-in-laws company and were not even on speaking terms for the way that company was run and the way employees got treated. Him and his partner got rich and f'ed all the employees and customers over.

"damage the West" if brains were dynamite you wouldn't have enough to blow the wax out your ears..

Them red panties are glowing with the power of a 10000000;T90 tanks....... T72s really...... Fuck me build and field a new tank......

Did you know China are still using knocked off Russian jet engine technology.... From a previous generation........ Which without the British would've been another 10 years behind.......bwhahaha

Operation unthinkable...... Could've wiped the problem out......

The hilarious thing is the whole second world war was about who's got the best version of socialism....... Fascism, National socialism, Communism, Socialism.........I blame the French really and the fat lazy, racist polygamist German Jew...........with no talent......

I paid about $50k 2 years ago for 3100W and 1500AH of batteries with a Victron Quattro inverter.

Did I get ripped off?

Using that logic Cars aren't worth it cos some of them are crap, roofs here last 50 years and up cos we don't use shitty materials , you people are idiots..

Solar as a source of supplying power to a grid on a ratio approaching anything useful creates problems and causes major power black outs...... If you don't understand why, try starting with a word called, "inertia" ...........and no, wind turbines aren't going to solve it.......

Just look at Portugal and Spain, their grids are a fucking mess, good luck.......

A little bit of information mixed with arrogant people with power to change stuff causes major problems for society........

The whole system is designed around AC, which needs big spinning things, maybe if everyone went back to DC and started again and overcome the issues with DC, you could have millions of solar panels everywhere and make your buddies super rich...... In the CCP........

Do you know the difference between a baseload energy source and solar and wind? Do you know why Europe had a huge power outage this Summer?

You schooled no one. You're talking out of your ass.

Thank the giant spaghetti monster in the sky, at least you get it......... It's people like them that causes these problems........you can't overcome inertia in a system with solar and wind ........ The whole bloody system is designed around giant spinning things.

Every new building, industrial and residential, should have solar installed on the roof space

It’s so easy and helps fill the massive void we have in energy generation
I think partially.

For example if you have individual home, you ofc might be partially autonomous IF you have hybrid invertor.

Then you will have even if grid will be disconnected. .
With simple Invertor frequency is setted up by gird and .....if you will not have output for casual stuff if there will be 0 supply from grid.

Hybrid invertors are more expensive.

Then energy storage... accumulators and other stuff are expensive.

There still are benefits plus I think solar collectors are good.
Heat accumulators systems plus other stuff.
You might use hot water early morning and late evening ... after day in office. Plus some cases it might be 8- 10 years in row without any significant additional investments.

I paid about $50k 2 years ago for 3100W and 1500AH of batteries with a Victron Quattro inverter.

I wouldn't know, but I'm curious as to what the $ savings have been in those two years.

You might convent DC to AC.... with invertor and such solutions are known 100 years plus in row.

Ofc problem is that there power is generated when sun is shining ... ... ...

Accumulators are very expensive and stuff to manage their leading and usage is expensive.

While might you get normal power in house when sun is shining and gird isn't working will depend from system and invertors you had installed.
Hybrid might generate 50 Hz or 60 Hz frequency in solo mode, without power in gird...
Joined invertors are cheaper..... and if you will not have centralized power supply they can't generate 50 Hz or 60 Hz ...AC and therefore will switch OFF.....

Also I don't think you know how nice are market prices in dry sunny august ... when there is low ammount of water and hydroelectric power plants does have best timeframe period to prepare for autumn rain and sparing floods season. So repairs and check ups.... ofc.
CHPP owners aren't willing to sell just electricity and not much heat plus they does needs prepare for heating season......
So repair and to do maintenance.

Water is not much, fossil fuel storages are filled for heating season, additional reserves too, wind is almost 0....

Sun is shining, fridges and conditioners are running a lot....
When market electricity price on hourly basis might be ... 0.4 -0.95 € / 1 kW•h ....
Then solar panels on office roof doesn't looks like waste of money.
Especially cos conditioners and fridges are taking damn a lot in hot sunny day....

Ofc I agree that wind energy is super difficult to balance... even in autumn it might blow danmn a lot and quickly calm down, then repeat.

Ofc if you have wind farm and pumped storage hydroelectric power plant it is cheaper and more usable.

Plus pumped storage HPPs are used also to accumulate excessive production during night and weeknds and to release when there is demand.
Plus they are usable as energy reserve for black start of grid and to be used as SK compensators to help keep frequency In grid.

Europe does have experience with these 45 + years ....
Only problem that suitable location is needed and it is very expensive to build these too.
Otherwise PSHPP stuff does work well, proven 45 years in row.

Wind stuff is with low predicatbility and very huge expenses to balance grid...

I wouldn't know, but I'm curious as to what the $ savings have been in those two years.

For me I won't save money. It just allows me have electricity without running my generator while out on the water.

So priceless.

When we move back on land I plan on putting a 20kw system into a property. I think it's around $1 per KW if you can do most of the work yourself. The battery bank will be a larger budget especially when you analyze your consumption rate and voltage decisions. 48v systems is probably best.

batteries are a big industry, most people can probably get by with a 5kw battery, and if you frequent long outages, maybe 10 kw, which can be had for $6K or so, and while it's not chump change, it's an investment that saves you money by using power off peak and eventually pays itself back while giving you independence. CATL is looking to produce sodium batteries in the near future, and they are a major player in the battery storage space.... and their batteries can be life changing, a total game changer if they can scale up with the sodium batteries.

For residential, there is no way that battery storage arbitrage will ever pay itself back nor is their justification for it over just a generator if your sole concern is cost. Things like Tesla Walls are ridiculously expensive in comparison per kwh of storage to utility scale storage.

We debated if we wanted to do a battery system, generator or just stay with the solar by itself. One of the benefits of a battery system in RI is during high usage times, the grid will pull 50% of your battery storage and then pay you for it.

Battery usage is not just for battery back up, it’s used so that you can power your home while energy prices are high, and then refill your reserves when energy prices are low. The batteries by themselves would take some time to pay off, however, with the ever volatile price of electric, it could be sooner rather than later. You also need batteries if you want to go off grid, and that’s totally possible. Future technology like sodium could lower prices significantly, as long as it’s widely adopted.

The utility companies are going towards batteries as a way to expand capacity, and the way they operate is to charge higher during peak hours, and you as a customer can do the opposite, get the best rates, with a battery system, backup is secondary.

We just paid 35k to do ours, will get about 10k back in taxes next year (thanks Biden) and it should pay for itself in 6-7 years depending on how much the energy company raises its rates.
Sounds like a good investment to me.

I haven't had any debt for years, so my taxes are the EZ form with no deductions. Is that 10k a deduction or real money?
