In contrast to the recent Finalised Submissions thread

ITT let's look at the other extreme, when a fighter breaks mentally, starts looking for a way out of a fight and taps before a sub is remotely locked in and ready to cause harm.

Anyone who thinks these taps are soft have never been placed in a choke in their life.

A fully locked up RNC can put someone out in less than 2 seconds.

Even weird chokes like an arm triangle from full guard can work well if the guy on top doesn't defend properly.

I'm a purple belt and I am confident in saying these taps are soft as f*ck, especially for the level we are discussing, top level professionals.

Miesha vs Holly

So soft, you didn't even see it.

The rnc nate had was as tight and locked in as it gets. He would have been out in 2 more seconds. No shame in that tap now the sage tap yeah that was "soft" as you put it.

I actually thought this was like a phantom tap thread as in soft in trying to get the fighter to let go and the ref not to see it.

McGregor was all cocky as long as he was getting the better of the standup, as soon as Diaz started finding his timing and Conor felt his power, saw that he had taken everything he could throw and was still there he just wanted out of the octagon. Rumble Johnson is also known for giving up his neck when he is mentally defeated.

Cerrone - Oliveira was embarrassingly quick, no effort whatsoever to resist or escape (compare to Barry - Struve triangle defence)

This one is a little more debatable

but I think Cain was probably ready to quit. He was getting cracked clean to the head repeatedly on the feet and thrown around like a naughty stepchild in the clinch and on the ground. Then he tried this desparation shot from halfway across the ring with no set up, gave Werdum his neck on a platter and didn't seem to struggle at all once the choke was on. Look carefully at his hand and you can see he actually taps uncertainly very quickly, then a second time, then a third time before it gets stopped.

Ken Shamrock in UFC I against Gracie. He then tried to say he didn't tap. STFU and take your loss.
