Started thinking that maybe I'm being unfair about soccer, so I watched a few videos, I was wrong, yep,......boring.

Guess it's like chess, fun to play but boring to watch.

Anyone actually find the game exciting to watch? What's a big score 5-4?

Am I just not getting it? Have to have played it to get it?

Football is way better to watch than american football. For 90% of the time all you ser in a American football game is people standing around doing nothing, even a 0-0 in football is better to watch

I don't really like soccer but just saying a low scoring game also has it's advantages.

The game is pretty much always close score-wise and every score matters so much that the excitement is very high when a goal is scored. Also a lot more drama for near misses etc.

Almost any sport sucks when you don’t understand it. Especially ball sports. I couldn’t stand to watch American footbal until my kids started playing and watching. Now that I get it, I watch it all the time.

I dont watch soccer much these days and it has plenty of issues, but it sits alongside basketball and hockey as the most high skilled and aesthetically pleasing major team sport. Its a flowing game with plenty of room for players to do all kinds of flashy shit and moments of great creativity and improvisation. The ball is in play the overwhelming majority of the games broadcast too, so when you tune in to it you're actually seeing the game itself, not commercials and standing around. Its also of course a global game with a true global talent pool, tons of major tournaments and leagues all around the world to watch. Lastly, the gameplay is unique, there is no other major sport remotely like it.

Basically, in just about every way its the polar opposite of that weird little domestic curio of an alleged "sport" that Americans call football.

Compared to football the athletes are tiny and really slow and just kicking a ball around, shocked it's as popular as it is to be honest. I guess the good thing about it is everyone can play it.

Soccer is an easy fix really, imo.

Make the field 2/3 the size it is now. Fucking thing is WAY too big and does nothing to improve the dynamic of the game as far as I can tell. This would likely result in more intense gameplay with a deeper sub strategy but I think it would work.

They need to get game scores into the 6-10 goal window to push a more exciting product imo.

As it stands, I respect these guys as well conditioned athletes but can't be arsed to watch a glorified passing practice.
