So why is Poatan gonna lose to Hill?

I know not everyone thinks so, but enough people are saying it for me to be asking what they're seeing that I'm not.

Hill is mostly a striker right? Are you guys thinking he's a better striker than Pereira?

I guess he can also wrestle right? Is he any better at it than Jan?

His best wins are what? 45 year old Glover by decision, and Johnny Walker?

How exactly is this dude gonna avoid what Izzy, Jiri and Strickland couldn't... how is this guy gonna go 5 rounds with Poatan without getting his face caved in by one of those deadly hooks?

<{vega}>
thats a great question, its really a good question, it comes down to what we think of Hill vs Alex

My opinion on Hill...yes he beat old Glover that went to decision, but he TKO Santos but by 4th round
Then, he beat glass jaw walker but walker is still dangerously unpredictable
Ok...wait, he lost to Paul Craig who was a wrestler which Alex is not
I guess it comes down to how much faith fans have in Hill.
How much Faith do I have in Hill?
Izzy lost 3 fights to Alex, but got him in that last fight...however, Alex IMO, rushed that fight to give Izzy that opening that he had in the fight before vs Alex
BUT, I think Izzy got lucky based on Alex wanting to finish it early and over committing.
However, Hill imo...will have allot of those moments that Izzy wish he could have, so I see Hill being possibly a threat for that reason
Thats just a guess I know

Alex likes this fight because its standing,
He beat Jiri in the 2nd, and Jan in the 3rd
Lost to Izzy based on being sloppy
But Alex vs Jan and Jiri was not sloppy

Um, yeah, Hill has dangerous Hands vs MMA fighters
Vs Alex, Hill will meet a real striker
Alex is getting older, so maybe its a factor.
Hill and Alex are about same height
Alex 79 inch real vs Hill 79 inch reach and same height?

Ok Hill has faster hands, but, Alex in Glory had problems actually with shorter faster hands...
I go with Alex winning but its hard to gauge with those smaller gloves
I also go with Hill being a natural fighter, not a natural striker

I see Alex winning, just because I see the blocking and counters...but here is the problem.
Hill moves real good between wrestling and striking and moving away
But Alex, is so much of a higher level striker than Hill

I have to go with Alex....I think this fight is too hard to tell because I am not an MMA fighter who can gauge it right
I pick Alex based on experience in striking and countering and his leg kicks

SO my biggest concern in Hill's weakness vs Alex is Alex will cut Hill off with his leg kicks
Like the Diaz brothers, I see Hill the same way...in all Hill's fights he is very lead leg fight type of fighter
I think Alex can kick Hills leg all day
Hill will eventually lose that hand heavy and speed he is use to
then Alex will slow Hill down if its not done early
Alex will predict and counter and be very comfortable.
I see hill losing his game plan
But again, what if Hill goes to wrestling ?
Idk...my guess is Alex will out strike Hill..I see it close and Hill being able to pull it off if he moves ahead to the ground game
But Alex if Alex counters those moves and chops Hill's legs..
Alex by decision or TKO.

Well Goro, @HatKick and @Gamer007 pretty much said what I thought (interesting note about basketball players, hadn't thought about that before but it makes perfect sense. I don't follow the sport).

I'd like to add in that in addition to Poatan's propensity for porous defence, have you also considered that this fight is tailored to enhance his star power?

And given that it's the UFC trying to build him up with this marquee opportunity to shine, have you not considered the universe saying no, fuck that shit Pink Goof and Ari Gold are trying to do, their budding star is going to lose to possibly the biggest "Literally Who?" champion of recent vintage (certainly at the higher weights, because I reject the premise that casuals know who Pantoja is).

Nobody wants to see Jamahal as champion except for his friends and maybe some of his family (him and his bro aren't on great terms are they?). Don't underestimate the power of this making it happen.

Edit: @textwarrior
Give yourself credit, fighters are regularly awful predicting fights. Just cuz they can throw down in the cage doesn't mean they can handicap em outside it

Pereira slithered by a split decision win over a 40 year old Jan Blachowicz who was clearly more effected by the altitude. Jan had previously gone 5 rounds with Izzy, don’t you think its a coincidence Jan gassed already by the second round versus Pereira at high altitude?

Let’s not underestimate Jamahal Hill here, he has a good chin and i could see him overwhelming Pereira like he did Santos who puts a lot in everything he throws.

it is a missmatch, they should let Ankalaev fight Alex

Fair point, but not by much if I recall correctly.

I felt like Izzy was getting the better of the exchanges early (again not by much) and then once Jan got some TDs and started to bully him and walk him backwards, THEN Jan was winning striking R3-5.
No. It was round 3 that adesanya was given on the cards. Jan won the first 2 then the last 2

The good old 'mysterious powers that stick it to the man' element.

I got dibs on a split draw

Because he gets KOed by influencers half his size.

Alex’s durability worries me. Even Jiri who is a much worse striker than hill had Alex wobbled and in trouble
alex got hit but by jiri ( then he knocked him the fuck out so what ) but at which moment exactly was he wobbled ???
he didn't even show momentarily pause by any of jiri punches let alone go on stanky legs which would classify as wobbled
if i'm Jamahal and i see alex eat polish power & jiri punches with ease i would be worried

As awesome as he is, we've seen him get cracked a few times. And Hill throws bombs. I still think Alex wins, but it's not wild to believe Hill has a chance. I think it's going to be an awesome fight.

Alex weakness: straight right hands
Hill's strength: Straight right hands

Hill has a fast and long one.
Not saying who will win.

Depends on how much Alex has aged, has Hill improved or is he worse due to the injury.

Exciting fight, let's go

I think Alex starches him, but to play devil's advocate, Alex isn't known exactly for his technical mastery of striking, so much as his insane power. He's very hittable and predictable, and not even especially fast. He's just gonna kill you when he does hit you. Theoretically, a superior boxer who can defend the leg kicks can beat him.

Nope, i think he will KO Alex
cant wait for this one. I think you're insane, and im not sure why anyone at all thinks hill is decent.... like at all.

I think there are atleast 5 top 10 LHW's he loses to. I think he loses to ankalaev, rakic, jiri, poatan and jan.

CroCop GnP'd Gonzaga to oblivion, who's better on the ground?
you're proving HIS point.

I don't know who's going to win, but it could go either way. I give it a 50/50 chance.

He got hurt and backed into the cage. I think Jiri teed off on him or shot or something.
He definitely paused and was pretty hurt dude

Because he won’t be able to climb that Hill
