At that moment, the trainer calls for Herb, and Herb asks Ortega what's wrong? Ortega then tells his trainer "te dije en confianza guey" which translates to, "that was between me and you, fool" Ortega then tells Herb that he's fine and ready to go.

Exactly, though "guey" translates more like "dude" than "fool". But the interesting thing is that what he told the trainer (unintelligible to me) was so grave that the trainer goes right to Herb and tattles. Must be more than that he couldn't see.
