So this is heavyweight Jon Jones

Jon is way past is prime and he's having a lot of trouble coping with it.

He'd get murdered going against the top HW's Gane/Ngannou

Yea it’s basically a cash out fight for him at heavyweight. He wants one last big payday that won’t ruin his 205 legacy.

Because he is trading what would make him successful at HW to come in as a big HW. He doesn't need to be massive. His way to victory was to continue to use his length and take 5 round decisions from people with superior cardio and opportunistic takedowns. Instead he seems to be trying to come in as someone with KO power.

He doesn't need to stack on weight. It will take away the advantage he has with his speed. He has trained for years with Mir,Arlovski and Overeem to name a few. Only he knows how he went, but the want to add heaps of weight is concerning.

His style should change at HW. He should have added a little weight and gone up when DC was champ.

Who says hes coming to brawl and be the biggest?..

He has to bulk up to fight HW to deal with there strength and power...but who says he doesn't just control the fight like he did at 205..Gane just won the intrim title fighting a very Jon Jones like tactical fight...

Jones at 240 to 250lbs is a problem

Inactivity i agree that could be a problem but hea comeback from breaks and won..but at HW his age isnt bad younger then the current champ and most of the HW roster ..

I think his age was making the 205 weights harder... especially with less juice or no juice..HW jones could be a much healthier Jones for all we know...alot of unknowns

Fair point about the cut to LHW possibly becoming more difficult. Because that could explain why he just didn't look like a world beater anymore in his last few outings,. If you are right, maybe we see him rejuvenated at HW.

What’s all this talk about heavyweight? The dude can’t even dominate light heavyweight anymore. He barely squeaked by in his last fight and retired. Everybody said GSP was scared of losing when he did the exact same thing.

That was my thoughts on them , harder weight cuts and less to no sauce...

At HW he will be unhindered in his ability to gain muscle and power and no dietary hold backs as we seen he bulked up pretty quickly lol...

Jones doesn't fight like Gane at all. Jones is slower and more plodding but had the longest reach in his division.
Gane moves in and out with footwork, Jones just waves his arms out in front to exit and enter.
His defence is average, but his chin and reach has kept him safe at 205.

They fight completely differently. Volkov would be a better comparison and he still isn't quite right.

He essentially disappeared. Last fight was 18 months ago and he arguably lost, last 3 fights were decision wins. Painting him with the same brush you would 7 years ago when he was pulsing swimming pools worth of pictos is ignorant at best.

I think that he popped for a larger amount of juice again and they are keeping it under wraps. He's probably serving a mandatory 2 year suspension, which really should be an indefinite ban from the sport given the mupltiple offenses.

the hw division has absolutely sucked for over a decade.

there is no fighter in mma who has ever lived with a comparable resume to jones.

lhw division is tricky for a lot of fans. Lhw is a hw. They cut weight to 205 lbs. jones isn’t a little guy. He’s more skilled than any hw today by leaps and bounds.

Gane has had like 8!fights. Ufc promotion is pretty insane. They would say how Cain is the most complete hw with 8 fights.

And if you have perspective on the sport you could se how absurd that statement is.

and today you still have fans saying Cain is one of the greatest hw of all time but shouldn’t even touch a top 5 -10. Maybe top 10. But not 5.

jones made dc look easy. Better wrestler better trailer better gas tank better chin. Better will to win. Faster x10 more variety. And he was a dominant hw.

he just ate bad to be a successful hw. Because he was so good.

or he’s like I’ve been the most dominant fighter of all time I’ve held a belt for over a decade. I want to be compensated for my decade plus reign as champion.

1 Hasn't fought in 18 months
2 Has been talking about fighting at HW for nearly 10 years, still hasn't
3 Ducked Ngannou
4 1 win by finish in the last 8 years
5 Now deprived of most of his steroids
6 Looked awful in his last 2 outings
7 Physically past his prime
8 Doesn't have HW power
9 Will lose his physical advantages at HW
10 Rapidly becoming irrelevant

Jones isnt podding, if he was D.C would of taken him down at will...

He doesnt shuffle as much as Gane in and out but he understands range and movement just as much as Gane

My argument against Jones finding success at HW would be age and inactivity more than size. He was slowing down at LHW and starting to look vulnerable. That's a tough time for any veteran fighter, and imo will make his transition to HW harder.

As far as power, I don't see it as an issue really. Jones has a heck of a chin, and doesn't eat a lot of clean punches. He'll survive. On the other side, his style has never been based on power. He doesn't need it.
Why no mention that he is/was clearly a lifelong ped cheat? How does that at some point just not make it into your post?

He’s a lifelong ped cheat, that can’t eat a 3rd strike. He ran from Jan, after publicly accepting the challenge. And is obviously ducking the entire HW division at this point. There is no need to say anything more than that.

Jon Jones has to have the worst muscle definition or lack there of amongst black people I've ever seen. Science should study him.

What happened to this Jones? He did this without even specifically training for heavyweight

No he doesn't. he waves his hands in peoples faces to enter and exit. Francis will crack his chin and Cyril is his worst nightmare. He probably beats Stipe just by kicks and being longer, but getting bigger was not the right call in a striking heavy HW division. Cardio was Jones best weapon and it will drop off as per the OSP fight.
Threw one in of Rampage also. Jon Jones bulking up wasn't the way to go.
