For the fourth time in just over a month (three times on facebook and once on twitter) someone has created a fake profile using pictures of me and begun joining very gay groups (and I assume catfishing gay men). Twitter was a hassle to shut down because their community guidelines didn't prohibit the profile because it wasn't using my actual name, I had to file individual copyright claims against each picture of me this person posted and once Twitter removed the photos, the perpetrator deleted the account.

Facebook is another animal. Its clearly the same person over and over because they keep using the same name (or variations of it) and using the same location on the posts. The first two profiles facebook removed right away but the most recent one I'm having some trouble getting removed.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? Friends and family think its hilarious but honestly, its fucking awful. Its very stressful and frustrating and I'm trying to find out how I can press charges against these individuals for online harassment, identity theft, etc.

Well, your username is perfect to get used to a new lifestyle.

But seriously, that is really fucked up, and I'm sure you can sue those assholes in some way. That's bullshit that your likeness is being used out of your control.

Only suggestion I have is to change the privacy settings, so that only friends/followers can see your pictures? But maybe you've done that already.

Or maybe create a fake account, hook up wit him irl and confront him?

Maybe contact a lawyer for some advice about pressing charges?

Sounds like one of your friends is messing with you.

They're not taking pictures from facebook. My facebook is private. They're taking pictures from my fitness blog on tumblr.
And no way I'm going to Baton Rouge to confront some crazy asshole.

Make your own fake profile, then friend the person and strike up convo. Once you've built up enough interest and trust that you'll get to set up a date and place to meet them....kill them.

In all seriousness I'd find a way to have fun with it. Hmm...the possibilities.

I guess you don't since my facebook is private, but I've posted pictures of myself here in the past and I've been on facebook since 2006 or some shit and the fake profile has existed for like a couple months, but yea. That's the real one. I've got a couple hundred friends including a bunch of family with the same last name and he has 10 gay dude friends, but I see your point.

The answer is so simple OP. Don't play the game play the player.
