So hugging won the belts tonight...

Merab tried to do shit at least. Valentina was dog shit boring.

Realistically - fighters should be able to grab the fence to keep themselves up. If wrestler can lean and leverage against it, you should be able to hold yourself up with it too.
If you aren't good enough to take people down in the middle without it, then tough shit.

People act like the rule set is set up for strikers. Just about everything in there is set up for wrestlers. Always has been.

Merab took some risks actually spending some time on the feet that OM couldn't capitalize, he did damage and to be honest it was an ecxiting fight knowing that OM could have been able to find the ko; it was OM's fault: he had time to use his striking and he didn't.

On the other hand Shev avoided all the risks and spent the the bare minimum on the feet: it was the most boring fight of the main card with no doubt.

Yes but thats MMA… still hope that somebody will sleep Merab via vicious knee or neckbreaking guily or so because I fkn hate guys who fight like that.

Maybe after that he could start to mix it up and also look for a finish.

I use to think that way too but after some time.. I look at these kind of wins in a different way where the losers should have defended the grappling

Today?
This has been happening since the unified rules have been a thing. This is MMA.
Even I know it and I'm a noob.

Lol ... Your salt is delicious..

Is this your first MMA card? Did you not know grappling was part of the sport?
Of course it's a part of the sport but that doesn't mean I have to like it. But anyways I don't mind grappling, Charles Oliveira style grappling. Merab has 1 finish in his last 13 fights and it was against the guy that got finished 7 times in his last 7 fights (Moraes).

I like grappling that is used to set up a finish either by submission or ground and pound but you can't convince me Merab was even trying to finish at any point.

Supposed to be a fight not a wrestling match. You like what you like I guess, if you like seeing control with very little damage then that's great. I like MMA because there are so many possibilities, so many ways to win. 99% of the ways to win I do like, hugging for a decision or eye poking Ponzinibbio style are a couple ways I don't like.

I look at it both ways tbh. Ultimately it's the fault of the fighter that gets taken down, super not fun to watch tho and I feel like anybody defending it is just trying to be like an elitist or whatever. I highly doubt there are very many people out there that enjoy watching that, even among hardcores.

holding someone down and not trying to finish the fight is not acceptable for me, there are some great examples of wrestling heavy fighters who stopped plenty of people

those last night didnt even attempt to finish the fight, if anything, Grasso was the only one attempting to actually win
Imagine being a fan since atleast 01 and still not know what you're watching

She took Grasso (and others) down despite being better at the standup because she never lets her opponents get comfortable or figure out how to strike back against her. She builds a striking lead and then dumps them down, and ensures total victory. Cos she's fuckin smart and they cant do anything about it

CRY.
I mean, I wanted Shevchenko to win and never stopped rooting for her throughout the entire fight, was worried about Grasso's sub attempts too which is why to me it seemed a bit confusing but ig she felt like she could handle it. Not crying lol, the fighters I picked to win and wanted to win... welp, they won lol. Can't pretend it was exciting tho.

No one said you have to like it. I just think people are confused why the fuck you're here.

Why don't you just watch kickboxing? Why are you hurting yourself by watching a sport you don't enjoy?

This is MMA. Fights like Merabs performance has literally been around since before you were a fan.

I'm really glad I didn't watch that live. Sometimes you feel it when events will be boring.

I mean I dont know what more you want tho.

I wanna see the best fighter win, and that means being smart.

Maybe Val had it in her mind to do more GNP but the sub attempts made her be smart instead. I can understand the rationale to not open up too much and get caught. Cos she wasnt opening up too much and Grasso was still creating oppurtunities. I was absolutley fine with the fight. They cant always be barn burners, and dominations cant always be violent dominations.

Cmon man

you didnt see shit

Your going off the opinions of butt hurted casuals

I liked both fights. No issue with whatever opinion anyone has on it tho. Finishes are great, but to me so is absolute domination of a high level opponent which is pretty much what those two fights offered me.

I thought Merab stayed pretty active when he had him down, sure there were times where he held him against the cage and just kneed his leg, but he was pretty active otherwise as far as the grappling.

Can't be mad at Val, she won the fight from every aspect in my opinion not just the grappling.

Almost stayed up for it but fell asleep around 2, glad i didn't sleep through anything important. Kinda figured this card was gonna be shit
It wasnt shit though

Kickboxing and boxing are both a lot more boring to me. Much more limited. You can be a fan of something without loving every single aspect of it can't you? If I'm going to watch something else I would watch Kickboxing followed by boxing of course. I mean, 99.9% of fans want to see action in fights, I'm not weird for not liking lay and pray.

I guess the question really is, is holding somebody fighting or not? And in a real fight that lasts 25 minutes, is the one that controls for 20 minutes while doing no damage the winner or the one that hurts the other guy and has them retreating at the end?
