So how bad is Ronda's shadow boxing? (Technical breakdown) (GIFS)

I get that she thinks its a feasible way to cover her chin with her shoulder while throwing punches but I just looks so fucking derpy. Hilarious.

Maybe she thinks she is Fedor in that regard?

This may be getting a little off topic but what astounds me is that Mike Tyson was at GFC watching her hit mitts and shadow box. Him and Cus use to go over a lot of video work and find flaws of all their opponents... Imagine the amount of flaws he saw in her boxing that day but didn't say shit because he was a guest with Dana, Lonzo, and the fuck around gang of GFC...

"This is how you throw a punch yo"

You don't need good shadowboxing though, Goldberg won 173 fights in WCW and only lost due to referee not seeing the stun gun that he got shot with.

The thing bout Ronda's shadowboxing is just like her videos hitting the mitts. To paraphrase Bruce Lee, Shadows and mitts don't hit back.

Lack of head movement and poor footwork combined are probably her worst flaws. That's true of a lot of WMMA fighters. Because of those things she has little defense. She basically just wades in and takes a punch to land one or to get close enough to clinch for a takedown. In the past that worked because she simply overpowered people.

I don't have a great amount of experience in boxing (never had any sanctioned fights), but just my limited involvement for self defense and fitness allowed me to see in her training/sparring videos certain things that would absolutely give my coach fits if someone was doing that in class, even the beginners class.

let us see yours OP. SMH people bashing rousey now were the ones picking her via 1st round stoppage. I bet ya'll look worse that. BTW I picked holm.

Believe it or not, people on Sherdog are not pro fighters. We don't need to throw punches with proper technique. But when a professional fighter can't throw a proper punch and is heralded as the greatest female athlete of all time and is on the cover of a boxing magazine, why are you surprised that the Internet (especially Sherdog) is mocking her?

This thread isn't even mocking her as much as pointing out the flaws in her technique.

But keep hatin' on the haters.

It's just shadowboxing come on, on the mits she looks good, and throwing her weight into the punches etc. The thing is, even though she looks somewhat good on the mits that doesen't translate well to the real fight in cage.

Look at Manny gooooo

And Ronda looking OK

Piss poor striking in general. She came a long way from her strikeforce days at least

Very nice of Robbie Lawler to video some shadow boxing for your thread.

This could have been summed up in a much more scientific way:
"Her stand up is complete garbage."

This.
It seems to me that (apart from the utter rubbish of her stand up technique) the problem is that Ronda planked Bethe with punches, making her think that she already acquired the tools to be a KO artist.
Paraphrasing Yogi Berra, 90% of boxing punches are half due to force transfer using the legs and body rotation, and Ronda was never able to develop such technique.
I saw a GIF yesterday here showing Ronda and Holly trading left hooks. Both of them tagged the other in the exchange, but while Holly takes Ronda's left on the nose and eats it like breakfast, Ronda takes Holly's left with the effect of a barrel bomb. The difference in the efficiency was shocking, just shocking. Even without the brutal headkick, Ronda would be KOed, maybe in that same round. Unable to use her strenght and technique in the clinch, Ronda just had no tools to survive a fighter like Holly.
Don't get me wrong: I believe that Ronda is a one trick pony, but she is awesome at that trick. The trick didn't work against Holly and she was left in the rain. her only option was to continue going for the clinch. Kudos to Holly for imposing her game. But I hope that Ronda understands now that she bought the cheap hype around her, and realize that Holly got her phone number. She now needs to add more tools to her skillset if she wants to remain relevant.
