While I am not a democrat I am certainly in no way a magat Trump supporter so there is no hypocrisy here. There is a question if he lied to congress about NIH funding GOF research. There is an article the intercept wrote claiming evidence they did using Ecohealth as a proxy. I haven’t read the article and won’t enter my email to do so. You asked a question of the alleged crimes Fauci committed. That is the only crime I can find that is in question.
The National Institutes of Health-funded experiment in Wuhan, China, posed biosafety risks but did not cause the Covid-19 pandemic, scientists say.

A disagreement between Republican Sen. Rand Paul and Dr. Anthony Fauci has put $600,000 of U.S. grant money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology back into the spotlight, while making "gain-of-function" research a household term -- all amid calls for more investigation into the origins of SARS-CoV-2.

That's the argument I've heard from earlier, and I think it's pretty dumb to call for criminal charges here.
The legal claim here is just that Fauci lied under oath when he said
“the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.” But the article itself begins by explaining the exact money trail to said Wuhan lab:
In 2014, the NIH awarded a grant to the U.S.-based EcoHealth Alliance to study the risk of the future emergence of coronaviruses from bats. In 2019, the project was renewed for another five years, but it was canceled in April 2020 — three months after the first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in the U.S.
EcoHealth ultimately received $3.7 million over six years from the NIH and distributed nearly $600,000 of that total to China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology, a collaborator on the project, pre-approved by NIH.
The article further goes onto explain that if we go to the lab leak theory and that Covid originated from bats has a couple qualifications that need to be bad. The virus collected from the bats in that region in China share 96% of it's genome with the virus that caused the pandemic. The doctors cited then explain how this doesn't make sense to have been genetically engineered inside said lab, but could not rule out that the virus didn't leak from that Wuhan lab from a bat.
All this means, is that to say Fauci lied, we'd have to say that even though the US DIDN'T award funding for any gain of function research, because EcoHealth distributed some of it's grant money to a subsidiary in China, and if you believe that lab in China then, I guess without telling anyone, proceeded to use that money for gain of function research (which remember, the scientists cited here don't believe the lab was doing so), we therefore funded gain of research stuff.
That's a pretty big stretch. In no way does the journalist here even prove that the lab in Wuhan was doing this. Nor can he show any wording in the grants that talk about gain of function research. Christ, if we're going to try to claim this is a lie under oath that must be criminally prosecuted, we do realize that the same hearing had testimony from Trump officials who testified, also under oath, that this lab received "billions and billions" of federal dollars, when in reality they got only $3.7 million over the course of six years? Surely that lie deserves to be criminally prosecuted as well?
Lets just call this what it is: Step 4,385, in Trumps revenge tour against everyone who ever contradicted him. Trump hates Fauci because Fauci was asked point blank by the press whether or not Covid, which would go on to kill over 2-million Americans, was serious. And Fauci defied the dear leader and said it was.
