So… Will You Pay Now?

I think it is the status quo for us, my fellow Canuck...

"While Canadians can subscribe to Paramount+ starting at $6.99 a month for a standard plan, it's unclear whether they'll be able to watch UFC fights on that platform. Sportsnet has held exclusive rights to UFC Fight Nights, pay-per-view preliminary events and the reality series The Ultimate Fighter in Canada since 2024.

Meanwhile, the next UFC pay-per-view fight available for Canadians to watch on Sportsnet costs $69.99. A spokesperson for Rogers, which owns Sportsnet, told CBC News the Paramount deal won't change anything for Canadian viewers. "

The big question is surrounding the numbered events. We have CBS, will we get those for free on cable ??

I can't say for certain...but I imagine that anything exclusive to Rogers would almost certainly get blacked out here on Paramount+ and/or CBS.

Yeah, probably cancelling my other paid source of UFC fights. Paramount is more, but rather get direct streaming for 13$/month. Still have to see what this really becomes though, Dana already planted seeds with "4 big cards" a year, and if they bring back even 1 PPV, I'll stick to my second hand source.

Nope, there is no going back for the UFC now. As soon as they pulled that 50$ to 80$ raise over the course of like 3 months, they can get fucked. I dont give a fuck if they started to stream all fights for free , ill still find another free'r way to watch it.

Greedy fuckers.

"When the UFC signed its broadcast deal with ESPN in 2018, a deal worth a reported $1.5 billion, the cost of a UFC PPV card was $59.99. The price point jumped to $64.99 at the beginning of 2020. In 2021, ESPN raised the price again to $69.99. In 2022, ESPN hiked the price to $74.99. As of now, the cost of a UFC PPV card is $79.99. The most recent price increase took place in January 2023."

"ESPN and Disney were very aggressive, if you will, on pricing the pay-per-views, and they have full control over that, but they have control given what they're paying us for those rights," Shapiro said. "Over the period of our partnership, they probably went a little quicker and a little higher than we would have liked.

"We voiced that to them, especially in this era of piracy where we're seeing our piracy numbers really jacked up, and we think that's driven by them pricing it too high. They were very receptive to that feedback."
