I mean... Not even the UFC fighters seem motivated to fight more. The welterweight division became a ghost land ever since Belal became the champion, the remember the name meme maybe also said of whether weight. Chimaev who was crazy active before, calling everyone etc is now more relax, it's not that crazy about fights, has not that competitive craziness anymore. Islam Makhachev doesn't want to continue in lightweight specially with Topuria there, and he will wait Jack vs Belal, and try to become champion of the ghost welterweight division. Arman was all brave, calling out Islam, saying he would be the one to beat Islam... After a split 50/50, win against Charles, he punched a fan, then missed weight and is not even saying anything about fighting... Tom is also not well, in the sense of anxiety, he is making videos opening up about anxiety awareness, mental health, he's showing its being tough to keep the energy. Alex Poatan, I dunno, after a 50/50 fight vs Ankalaev that Ank won but it was pretty even, not memorable for most fans since it was lacking... Both fought in a way that made the fight seem more boring...
Jiri Prochazka also has lost his edge, it seems he is up to something in regards to testing pool and I think he won't be allowed to fight for the title... Ulberg and Jan was boring af... With all due respect. The division that had potential in middleweight has reached a point it became stagnant... We don't know if DDP and Chimaev will fight, we don't know what was up with DDP.
I mean, I think these fighters are seeing that keeping the same motivation is tough. When you're starting, in their first 10 fights in UFC, successful ones, the energy is high yet... But keeping the same motivation, all while knowing the long term risks.. it's tough. Imagine for someone like JJ who has kept this drive for many and many years... The current generation had shown this hunger in the first times, but it's like when everyone is starting their supplements enhancing training... It is fun to train, it becomes easier in the sense of it being more natural. It's easier to focus on the training. With time, even when they're on their enhancing supplements, it becomes harder to find the same motivation to do the heavy training. It's not that the supplements don't work anymore, but that initially it's always the honeymoon phase, but with time, even with the mental boost the supplements gives for training harder, the body knows its limitations, so it won't "work as well as before".
I think that's even the reason why some of the fighters are fighting less too. If some sort of performance enhancing chemicals are being used (which is, no one if clean off that totally... The are levels ofc but they are in some things), cycling off will be a way so the body don't acquire more tolerance than it already has. A way for the body to adapt to a no energy phase so when they can use their energy, the effects can me more visible — not like the first fights tho, that'd be chasing the dragon, basically.
