Small waists in MMA?

Connor and Alvarez both have small waists and KO power.

B Hop who is one of the greatest boxers of all time fought between 160-180 most his career and has a twenty eight inch waist. When I was 14 weighing 140 I wore 28in pants lol

Conor, Deontay Wilder and Romero are 3 examples that nullify that observation.
That being said, maybe there is some truth to this as thin-waist fighters don't tend to be KO artists usually.

I’m always surprised with how small the waists on the Diaz bros are, do you think that’s a part of the reason they can’t generate big knockout power? How much does a midsection impact your style?

Bernard Hopkins used to boast about his 29 inch waist. He had a spartan diet. Disciplined as fuck. Not quite a vegan but not too far off. The Diaz boys are both vegans I note. They seem to all have stupid levels of cardio. Bernard considering he won a world title at 50.

You need a big belly for the overhand right 1 punch KO ability. Which I have proudly.

I don’t think ko power is dependent on waist girth, cause I know many fighters and a few boxers that have the slimmest waist, but they hit like a truck.
I do think small waists are not favorable for grapplers. Easier to grab, easier to close a body triangle.

Look at this guy's smalle wrist and fist, I bet you he doesn't have KO power

There might be something to that. Punch power is generated from the hips, so a smaller less dense waist probably inhibits your power somewhat.

I'll just quote you since I can't be assed quoting everyone else, but having a slimmer waist would technically mean you have a thinner axis to rotate on, and with all other things kept equal, would actually allow you to more quickly rotate your body, hence generate power.
