Some people junk their tires next to freeways/highways, etc.

Side of road as mentioned above or tire store. Just ask them for an old tire.

Go to a tire store, most will give away old tires for free because it saves them disposal fee's.

I put mine in the garage.

There's a park a mile or so from my apartment. I'm pretty sure I can load it up in my car with the sledge and drive it out there.
