Skyrim Special Edition

The question is...do you have Arvak?

"Who's a good undead horse...you are."
I fucked up and not only didn't summon that dragon in the soul cairn after learning the shout, I forgot to give that skull to whoever is in there too.

So I left.... and I'm not even a vampire anymore. So not only do I have to turn into one again to get back into soul cairn to finish those two quests... but I have to hike it all the way back through the castle to get there. FML

That sucks, but having a horse that you can always summon, don't have to worry about dying or losing is well worth it. Oh, and one of the doors in the room with the Soul Cairn entrance goes to balcony, which becomes a fast travel point.

Also, you can summon Durnehviir (the Dragon) while outside the Soul Carin. The shout works like a summon spell, just need to shout at an open spot on the ground.

Got damn I love this game. I was a little concerned I wouldn't be into after three play throughs on PS3 but it holds up really well and it looks absolutely gorgeous running at 4k, better than FO4 in some ways. The world is not as impressive as Los Santos but it's unmatched in pure beauty. The soundtrack is still one of the best ever too.

You know what's great about this game? It's wonderfully simple yet incredibly complex. Anyone can pick it up figure out how to play it but to truly make the most of it takes a lot of knowledge and skill.

You forgot time! It's a game that can only really be appreciated with time. 50 hours are not merely enough to claim you master it because that's the threshold where you discover new things. Secret combinations, potions that enhance shouts too, perks that boost weapon damage, etc. It might be a coincidence but I just watched a video where I learned things I didn't know about hidden perk effects.

I highly recommend watching it for any Skyrim fan, even veterans will learn new things:

Need I mention that I have more than 500 hours on Skyrim? I learned 1 or 2 things I didn't know in there!

It's honestly better than I remember (even though Mods help lol).

The game feels much more polished than Fallout 4 does. This game almost makes 4 seem rushed in comparison.

That being said, I'm more or less near the end of my current playthrough.

- Main Quest (complete)
- Civil War (Complete, sided with Stormcloaks)
- Dawnguard (complete)
- Thieves Guild (around 2 missions left)
- Dark Brotherhood (halfway through)

Once I'm done with the Guild and Dark Brotherhood I'll be doing the Morrowind DLC and that'll be it. Bethesda makes addicting games but you can get burnt out if you over do it lol.

Don't forget to deal with the Ebony Warrior.

Fo sho. I felt like something was missing from Fallout 4 from the day I booted it up. Going back and playing Skyrim reaffirms it. Feels like something special.

I feel like a lot of the hard work put into Fallout 4 is underappreciated. Just the voice acting: it's not one step above Skyrim, it's a whole new level above! 50+ different voice actors, very few NPC voiced by the same actors and a fully voiced main character, male or female. That's hard work that goes pretty much unnoticed, unfortunately.

There's much more to mention but this is a Skyrim thread!

Oh it's a great game no doubt. Meticulously crafted. But compared to Skyrim and Fallout 3 I felt unfulfilled.

26 hours played and still so much left to explore. I started at Markrath, moved east and I've only recently hit Whiterun

Gotta get my Companions shit done sharpish so I can get rid of dat vampirism

Do you guys power level skills early, use a mod to boost levels, or gain skill ups naturally and progress the way you're intended to?

I've played the game so much I'd prefer to just be able to start new characters with my main skills to be in the 50s-70s, making my character around level 25-30. This is where interesting gear starts dropping and scaled loot is pretty strong as well.

As a veteran player, I prefer power-leveling skills naturally. I don't avoid exploits but I draw the line: I wouldn't use a mod to get "instant level" or perk points but I will use tricks like smithing iron daggers, enchanting these daggers then selling these daggers to level up smithing, enchanting and speech at the same time. I will switch Standing Stone and make sure I'm well rested before each step to maximize XP.

I particularly like to level up a skill to 100 and make it Legendary to use perk points. For example, pickpocket is easy and fast to level up when you have the good perks. If you use pickpocket to steal your money back when you train, you level up the skill you pay for AND pickpocket at the same time. Once your money is gone and you can't pickpocket it anymore, it's time to stop training for a while.

You're free to make pickpocket Legendary and re-assign perk points elsewhere. You can level it back up very fast when you know what you're doing: it's only a question of pickpocketing as many easy victims as possible. Also, Muffle and Invisiblility are great to level up illusion. You'll reach 100 in a heartbeat if you keep using these spells during exploration or city sight-seeing. If you don't use Illusion for anything else, don't leave perk points into it: reassign them where they will be more useful.

I forgot to mention: there is a mod that removes the training limit. It gives you 100 training levels with each trainer. It doesn't affect the price of training, it just allows you to spend all your money to train a skill instead of having to wait to train it 5x / level.

It has made the game very enjoyable for me because I know how to make money fast in Skyrim: multiple-effect potions! I sometime spend 25k+ on training in one session after a quick alchemy spree. I recommend the mod but it does make you overpowered if you don't know how to restrain yourself...

Does anyone seriously like playing as a Vampire?

Shit was gay in Oblivion, and nearly as gay in Skyrim(at least it didn't actually kill you if you slept outside). Why the fuck would you want to play as a race who is hurt by sunlight? Seriously Bethesda, no more Vampire class.

Been playing on PC, have finished the main, brotherhood, and thieves guild. Working on Dawnguard right now.

Some mod recommendations.

Unofficial Skyrim Patch
When Vampires Attack (makes NPCs run inside so they don't all die)
Ars Metallica
Enhanced blood textures
Phenderix's
Rich Merchants

Try a vampire necromage and then tell us what you think. Resto perk necromage

Wise list! I support every mod in there (I never tried the Metallica mod). To enhance your list, here are my personal favs:

Thunderchild: Enhanced shouts and meditation for new Words of Power combos and new shouts.
Ordinator - Perks: total perk overhaul with new perks, branches and effects.
Apocalypse - Magic: less spells than Phenderix so less browsing.
Alternate start: choose a new beginning to your adventure. Start as a shipwrecked pirate, a Solitude noble or a member of a guild at lvl 1!
More training: 100 level / trainer, same price to train.
Diverse Dragons: more dragons to fight!
