Skyrim Special Edition

Lightning blasts have a way of disintegrating enemies. Look for a pile of dust instead of a body, you can still loot the dust for the items! I don't think the Companion quests become unavailable: you can still do them but some companions can die. Not the immortal NPCs like Aela but some low rank.

As for the Gauldur amulet, I don't recall all the details. Is that the one you find the first fragment in Saarthal? If that's the one, the quest is called Forbidden Legend and is plagued with multiple bugs. Most bugs are related to the amulet itself but there are more serious ones. If you can describe your situation with the most details possible, maybe I can help you. Just tell me how much fragments you have found yet, which ones are missing and where you still have to go. Don't forget to tell me exactly what's the bug: a door that won't open? A crash? A big lag?

Keep in mind that you should always make "hard saves" when you reach a crucial point or start an entire new quest. Don't do it for every fetch quest but something like Forbidden Legend is a good example. If you keep a hard save before picking up the first fragment, most bugs are reversible. If you don't, you may have to backtrack a long way to find a viable save...

Hey cool ya it just says everything is done but the mission won't clear

Sorry I just woke up so I'm still groggy. Isn't that the quest where you must fight a ghost at the end? He summons illusion twins and you must destroy them all before defeating him? If that's the one and you've done all that without clearing the quest, it is a bug that can be solved with the console on PC. Let me ask you, have you re-forged the amulet? Do you have it in your inventory as The Gauldur Amulet?

If that's the case and the quest wont clear, just forget about it completely. It's a minor bug that should not affect your game. Don't let the quest bug you just because it's still in your log book. I will give you the absolution if you have done all that:

"You have completed the quest, my son. Now you can rest and sit and my right side. Or keep fighting demons: whatever you prefer, my son."

For Hard Saves, I don't think I ever mentioned this. Hard save is not Quick Save. A Quick Save overwrites your last Quick Save, a hard save is unique and you choose its location. You can make a hard save over another hard save: no need to create a new file each time. I tend to keep around 10 hard saves for every playthrough.

I will save over the oldest ones, except the original save: I like to have it to keep the date of my character build and start from the beginning if I want to. So I will begin quests but I will make hard saves before crucial points. Let's take the companion quest for example. I will make a hard save for sure before entering the Sky Forge and choosing to be a werewolf. If a "werewolf bug" happens in the next hour after that, I can always reload the hard save just before.

I can then choose to postpone the quest, try it again or kill everyone around as an outlet for my frustration! Try it, it is definitely soothing. Especially since you can beat down dead horses like Aela: they will never die!

I like Aela cosplayers! I don't follow cosplay but I make an exception for Aela:

Those damn redhead: my redhead resistance is really low and I have no items to boost it!

IN !!!!

Something great happened. I tried updating my PS3 and now skyrim runs rather smoothly (it had become unplayable).

Just promoted to Level 55.

So glad I can continue this masterpiece of a game.

Started watching that Vikings show on History and it inspired me to start over. I now roam the land with my dual ax wielding fur wearing Viking Nord.

I've decided to dedicate my perks to One Handed - Smithing - Alchemy - Sneak - Two Handed - Archery.

It's my first time actually role playing a character and I must say I find it quite entertaining. I'm finding myself spending a lot of time on parts of the game I've always passed over. Like cooking, smithing, mining, pelt hunting and pretty much just being a person of the land.

Really? My games were insanely glitchy on PS3 a few years ago. Strange that a system update would help that.

Well don't get me wrong, it is still glitchy.

But it was simply unplayable before the update.

So i just joined the dark brotherhood. Decided to wear that cool armor they gave me instead of the Thieves Guild's armor.

Not sure if it s a good idea since the thieves armor is more resistant I think.

I like using iNeeds or some other "needs" mod, so that cooking and food actually have a purpose.

That's what my Fallout NV was like after only a few hours. Bethesda games on the PS3 are a little.... temperamental.

At least you can play it again though. Did you try turning off all the auto save settings (after travel, resting, etc)? That made Skyrim run a lot better for me IIRC.

Good for you! have fun and don't let your horse step on mudcrabs: they stick to the hooves!

Dual wield is really fun. It's a daring style because there is no block. It is perfect for a Vicking build: no way a berserker has time to bloc, they close doors early in Valhalla!

Role play is really the heart of Skyrim. I get that some people just want to play the game and can't be bothered. Reading in-game books? Learning NPC's name, their relative and their different homes? GTFO!

That's what makes Skyrim not game of the year: game of the decade.

If the armor difference is in the low 20s, it doesn't really matter. Sure, your bonus from Light Armor perks is added to your base armor but even then, a few dozen point never make the difference between life and death.

Keep the brotherhood suit if it's not the one with poison resistance: that one is useless.

I roam prepared for any raid. I've got my dual axes, my shield and my bow.

I'd like the bash perk as well as the perk that allows my shield to block arrows with no damage. I usually only use my bow when I see mages and extremely powerful enemies from afar so I can wear them down before they get close enough for my hand to hand combat. I've seen so many wonderful armor pieces with great bonuses, but I refuse to wear anything that's not fur or possibly leather. So I just disenchant them and wait for a better time to create my own.

I'm really really REALLY enjoying this play through. I've completed maybe 3 quests and I'm nearly level 11 as I've been leveling up smithing/alchemy/one hand/light armor/sneak at a really fast pace.

Decided to try and become Thane of Falkreath and settle there as it appears to be the most Vikinglike settlement that I can recall at the moment.

Keep having fun man, that's what the game is all about. Are you playing Special Edition? If you go to Solstein, you can buy chitin armor really soon, right in Raven Rock. It's not that better but it has a cool look. Don't wear the mask, just wear your favorite light helm instead:

I'm on a kick of wearing no armor at all, it's a blast. I found out that it is very difficult to find non armored gloves. I need them to be sure my "mage armor" perks is active: armored gloves negate it. So I have to sneak into houses and steel basic clothing gloves just to enchant different kinds. Nearly all my gloves/bracer are stolen! I have very few cool un-armored bracers.

These were my favorite with my Redguard Rebel Taarna:

I'm back in.

My 360 has been kind of useless for a while, and I'm playing next to nothing on next gen, so I thought "what the hell?". Booted it up. The 360's disc reader initially sounded like it was going to kill itself, but it calmed down after the tutorial.

Started as a Wood Elf, with the intention of playing as an archer/two handed stealth tank. The archer and stealth part is going well, but I'm not so sure how far I'll make it with the two-handed stuff. I'm trying to mix it up, but the arrows are just too fun. Got my heavy armor going though. I'm already having a better time now, than I did with the mage I went with last time. Shops/smithing/enchanting actually have a purpose now.

Level 7. Just finished "The Golden Claw" mission. Damn addictive once you get going.

Wood elf make perfect archers. Keep specializing into that and never forget the bound bow spell: it can be your biggest ally if you don't find a strong bow. I normally choose a specific bow when I make an archer build but every other build use the bound bow spell. I like to combine archery with 2-hand weapons: perhaps you'll get the hang of it later.

It you choose to rely on bound bow (like I do), the trick is to enchant enough items with "fortify magika" or "fortify conjuration" to be able to cast it. You can then switch to your fight gear once the bow is summoned. Just keep a set of clothes, rings and necklace with these enchantments and you can cast it as soon as level 15. Bound Bow is as strong as a Deadric bow (the strongest) and it comes with 100 bound arrows at each summon. Deadric arrows have a damage rating of 24!

And it looks pretty cool too:

I haven't been using a helm. I rather dig the massive beard crazed hair war paint look. I too have enjoyed as little armor as possible. Leather boots and gauntlets with fur armor all I'm rocking. That Chitlin armor way too bulky for the look I'm going for.

I named my Viking Loki and his story is he was exiled to this god forsaken land by Thor and he's not too pleased about it. He was stripped of all his powers and forced to blend in. Loki's mission is to once again return to his powerful form and get revenge on Thor. For the most part I coexist peacefully through grinding teeth, but occassionally, when there are no witnesses....he snaps.

I'll keep it in mind, but I doubt I'll ever have a hard time finding a strong bow. I'm only playing on "adept", so I will never have too much resistance. That does look fancy though.

I'm a pretty basic player. I just like that I'm actually using the forges, and have to buy items and upgrade my equipment with this build. You get a lot more out of the game that way. Unlike my mage last time, which was pretty much God after ten hours. I beat the Mage Guild quest, and that gave me the only equipment I ever really needed.
