Skill set, GSP vs Jones

I'll say GSP more experienced and more training in more different areas, but Jones more imaginative and has better physical gifts.

Jones has a size and reach advantage over most opponents. GSP has better boxing probably better standup alltogether. He is more experienced. Both have great wrestling Jones has of course much better Greco Roman but GSP has maybe the best double leg in MMA but as a whole Jones has probably better wrestling. Jiu Jitsu I say Jones he is more aggressive with it and has pretty creative submissions GSP has good top control but Jones has much more brutal GnP maybe the best in the business and is much more aggressive with submissions. Jones seems toi have the better chin and keeps calmer when getting hit GSP doesn't like getting hit.
It's really hard but I think Jones is overall better is still improving and doesn't have the same mentallity problem GSP has

I believe if Jones were shrunk down to 5'10", 170 lb with a 75 inch reach, he would get slammed on his ass by GSP and scurry his little chicken legs all around trying to get back up. That'd be after eating a few superman punch /leg kick combos and getting his lip fattened up by jabs.

GSP is more skilled, basically everywhere. Jones is more talented, stronger, has more reach, and is more coordinated. But raw skill, GSP is pretty much got him everywhere. Only in wrestling there is something of a question mark.

Jones is better everywhere bar submission defence. Jones stood with Shogun, Vitor, Rampage and almost anyone he wanted to the whole fight and beat them on the feet. GSP stands for patches against strikers and got headkicked by Condit, hurt briefly in a competitive scrap with Diaz and in a far too competitive striking match with Jake Shields! Jones is miles better as a striker. And as a wrestler Jones has never been on his back from a takedown. But GSP is unbelievable too.

Wrestling: Jones has fantastic takedowns and unstoppable GnP but I don't think it's surpassed Georges' yet. While Sonnen is a good wrestler Jones is much bigger than him leg wise so he'd have much more power in his td's. GSP has taken guys like Hughes and Koscheck down at will and these are some of the best wrestlers in the UFC. And when Georges takes you down, you don't get back up til the bell rings. Perhaps if Jones could through someone like Davis or Evans around he'd surpass GSP in wrestling but for now I'd argue no.

Before Jones came onto the scene, Machida was the LHW with the best TDD. And then this happened:

Jones isn't beating these fighters in wrestling simply because of size. Bader is the other top 5 LHW wrestler who is huge, and this was what happened:

Bonnar at 6'4" with 80 inch reach is almost identical to Jones at 6'4" with 84 inch reach: It's not the size. It's techniques.

Gsp huggers are ridiculous. Jones is clearly the better fighter. He is able to finish other fighters. I know gsp fans have all their excuses to why he doesn't finish. It's because he can't. When is the last time fans made excuses for a Jones fight?

If Georges was as skilled as Jones, 87.5% of his title defences wouldn't have gone to decision.

I've seen all these fights. But Georges hasn't had any struggle with a takedown since maybe Hughes II. He simply slams them to the mat whenever he feels like. And Bader is barely top 10 not top 5.

we need a super fight...at 205...gsp vs Jones..to settle this silly hypothesis .....
...if gsp grappling is better...he should be able to take Jones down and hold him there until end of fight.

The problem here is that jones has not been out-wrestled yet by any wrestler he has faced and has been the one doing the out-wrestling.

Also GSP has not finished fighters smaller than him as well as fighters larger than him in a while in contrast to jones.

Jones wrestling along with his clinch grappling and entire wrestling acumen is something GSP has never faced at WW and jones is very good at it with a larger wrestling skillset then GSP.

So I have a hard time seeing GSP having an easy time with jones if he is some miniscule fighter at 5'10 and he would be one of the best wrestlers GSP has faced with a far larger wrestling skillset then what GSP has.

GSP had some trouble taking Diaz down and got stuffed several times.

And how can anyone forget this:

I was referring to top 5 LHW wrestler. Only Jones, Evans, and Davis are ahead of him in terms of wrestling.

In my opinion, I would say GSP is more skilled. I believe he works harder, trains his moves more, and is constantly learning.

Jones on the other hand is more Talented. While I don't question his work ethic, I do believe things just come easier for him. He has one of the best fight IQ's I have ever seen in a fighter. Plus he comes from a very strong family, and that has got to count for something.

Nick stuffed a few of GSP's takedowns.
