Social Skateboarding Is An Art

Yeah, Nyjah is insane. Seems like he gets hurt a lot though, which sucks. I think Nyjah is the best but Yuto is right there and I love his style.

Yuto has such a CLEAN style! Love watching him skate as well.

Skateboarding is awesome, used to be pretty good as a teenager, wish I never stopped. I still ride occasionally but suck now, regardless it’s still fun. The berrics page on Instagram is a good follow.

Yeah man, same for me. I got a new board about a year ago, and it had been probably 10+ years since I been on one. I did a kickflip and ate shit! lol! I just need to find time play around more to get my legs back.

And Dashawn Jordon is awesome. He's another one that I keep my eye on for vids and contests. Love watching him skate, he's also got a very clean style.

No one will ever touch Mullen..

Ha, I remember this video! I had the tape! As a kid, it was amazing. It still is today, even. Watching just now, I was surprised to see Mullen to a tailslide, kickflip out. Super tech back in the day and nowadays, flip tricks out of slides are all the rage now. Very cool to watch again!

Even crazier considering he invented pretty much all of it. He’s credited with inventing the flat ground ‘Ollie’ among many other things.. the dark slide is still one of the most badass tricks tho imo

Casper slide is pretty sick, too. Can only really be done on flat surfaces, though. I would like to see people doing a darkslide on some handrails!

Rodney has that covered. Tbh I can’t really think of anything else you could do with a board that he and Hawk haven’t covered.

What’s crazy to me about Mullen is also how casually and consistently he can pull things off. I’ve seen him live before and out of all the ‘pro’s’ that were there that day he was the only one I saw that didn’t miss a beat or make any mistakes.. that said he was there as a judge if I’m not mistaken and wasn’t actually in the comp.. either way, the judge outperforming the people he’s there to judge was pretty crazy.

When I was skating as a kid, I watched a skate video from Santa Cruz where they asked people on the street what they thought of skateboarding.

Some long haired non skater dude said “it’s an art form, I think”

so maybe you’re right

Looks like Skater of the Year is down to these four skaters:

Tristan Funkhouser
Tyshawn Jones
Nyjah Houston
Louie Lopez

You can vote and see a vid of each skater below.

Personally, I believe Nyjah has the most impressive parts done this year. Louie Lopez had a great part as well, very unique style and combinations in his part. Tyshawn Jones had some great stuff as well, but I was hoping to see his giant kickflip platform to platform in NY, but that wasn't in the vid. T Funk's part was okay. I don't see his parts being above the 3 others listed IMO.
