Gaethje bends that stupid titanium bar in Conor's leg and ends his career.
In prime? Absolutely. Now? Not so sure. Gaethje 70/30 for me right now. I still think Conor is better in ideal situation, but that situation is not a reality. He had broken his leg multiple times and hasn’t fought for a long time. Him being 35 also won’t help.
Well maybe, I just don’t see it, but I guess I have never seen what some people see in Gaethje.Gaethje would slap Conor around in his prime.
Conor has 1 win at LW.
In his prime he had a chance, but it likely wouldn't have even been that competitive. In McGregor's prime he might have been competitive, but remember that he lost badly to Nate Diaz in his prime. McGregor now gets absolutely destroyed.
I remember that, Diaz is a stylistic nightmare for him. Every guy Conor beat would beat Diaz (likely). On to the topic, Everything Gaethje does is inferior to prime Conor. People like to hate him, but there was no striker better than him in his prime, in his divisions. I can only give Gaethje the cardio advantage and even that was never one of his strengths (partly because he fought so wild yes). I cannot see that fight being very competitive at all (hypothetical prime Conor one).
Movement, variety, speed, precision, power, iq… There is nothing that favours Gaethje there, expect cardio to some degree and I guess leg kicks. But even that is much harder to land on prime Conor.
Sherdog has taught me that MMA math is always wrong, so I can only conclude that Conor rinses Justin with ease
Also I don't know what "rinses" means, I just made it up but it sounds like something a Sherbro would say so I used it here.
Discuss. Rinse and Repeat.
I'ma start saying "rinses" all the time.
This. This thread may have some value.
Welcome to London, we've been rinsing things out since the 90s/00sAs far as I'm concerned, this thread's a legend. I'm gonna start saying it irl too, bc I actively wanna see people thinking to themselves, "The fuck he say? Rinses??" and looking all puzzled.
Well I said that he has a heart, all of that can be contained in it (expect chin). But all of that can only take you so far, which was proven many times in Justin’s case. In top 5, at least three times he was in situation where exactly those things were tested (Dustin, Alvarez, Oliveira) and he lost every time. Okay you can also say Chandler, but Chandler is just not that good, at least not after 3 minutes of a fight, which was exploited in all of his last fights.how about chin, toughness, and unwillingness to quit
Conor went 1-1 wth Nate to be fair. Granted, he got finished in the first fight and the 5-round rematch wasn't total domination by Conor or anything, but it's not like prime vs. prime Conor loses to Nate every time. Nate was a tough opponent for him, though. I think prime Tony Ferguson would've been a similar challenge. Conor would probably box him silly for 2 rounds, but Tony would somehow survive and do his "come back as a stronger zombie" thing after that.I remember that, Diaz is a stylistic nightmare for him. Justin has improved since the Alvarez and first Poirier fight, though. He still has lapses in Fight IQ and is certainly not a point fighter, but I'd pick him in a stand-up fight against any current LW right now. That doesn't mean he can't lose, but I'd pick to win at least 6 out of 10 times against anyone who doesn't take him to the ground and submit him. His punches, devastating low kicks and pressure are very tough to deal with.Well I said that he has a heart, all of that can be contained in it (expect chin). I don’t even hate Justin, I was glad he won against Dustin who I also like, but I don’t see him as a killer like many people do, he lost enough times against top competition. Still, I will root for him against Islam because he is a honest and likeable guy and I would like him to prove me wrong against Islam.
That's not true. He definitely does things.McGregor ain't gonna do shit. I don't even believe he'll ever fight again. He'll be a 50 year old man in 15 years, on twitter still claiming he can dust everyone.
Seriously, fuck that chump. That's all he is these days. A loud mouth, do-nothing chump.
I agree, he is better, mostly because he learned patience, something he sorely missed. But still, when I watched him against Poirier, I see a very similar fighter who was still gonna lose that fight unless he landed something that would end the fight in an instant. Granted, he did just that and it was beautiful as it gets. But other than patience and him baiting attacks more, his skills are not that drastically better. He was still getting tagged and hurt in that first round.Justin has improved since the Alvarez and first Poirier fight, though.
