After Cormier said that about Silva it made me question whether these guys are piggybacking off of Silva's reputation even though everyone knows he's clearly a shell of his former self; As if to say "he's known as one of the greatest-----and I just beat him"

Bisping and Diaz said something similar after their fights.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it and they are merely complimenting him and showing him respect.

UFC guys are suppose to say Anderson is the greatest. They started calling Anderson that when he knocked Belfort out. DC works for the UFC in more ways than one, we all know that.

Yeah, it's all hype machine shit... Andy never did shit.

All fighters usually hype their opponents. Even ones that talk shit about each other.

Dc and Jones hate on each other then end the interview with "well DC is the greatest opponent ive had i have to be ready" etc.

I think some of you might be missing thepoint of my post.

If anderson beats DC does he go back into the GOAT talk???

Anderson is still in goat talk. It's not because you start losing at what, 37 ? That you're a can. I think they're piggybacking his older self. Right now he's not the goat, prime Silva was. They're beating the shell of Silva and calling it a huge win. If it makes sense ?

People are discrediting his GOAT status from being popped by USADA.

No, I think we are just not caring.

It's a sign of respect to someone about to pick up his 8th loss.

well, the more that the other GOAT contenders get popped, the stronger his argument becomes lol.

He's the MW GOAT with of the most memorable wins in MMA. Win or lose the guy is still a badass for stepping in two days short notice to fight the current LHW champion whom is a well-established olympic wrestler. If you can't respect that then you are a hater.
